Finally...

A post on blogging that I totally agree with... written by the lovely Christina at Down and Out Chic.

It's funny really as alot of people have been writing posts about blogging and some I have agreed with to a point and alot I have just been left feeling frustrated with... I haven't written anything before as I have been trying really hard to ignore the negativity but I have to be honest with you now...

I love blogging, I love my blog - I work incredibly hard on it - and I love the people who read my blog! I love the comments, I love the interaction, I love that I have made friends all around the world... and some close to home. I love that I made something from nothing and that I have found out more out about myself through blogging than I ever imagined I would.

Christina's post focused on being kind, working hard and measuring your success through your own happiness and right now its nice to love my blog without worrying that someone maybe be judging it negatively... or even feeling guilty about it's increased readership.
(I'm honestly still stunned you've all stuck around...)

Blogging is what you make it - there is always going to be negativity but personally I choose to ignore it - there is more positivity within me, my blog, my readers and the blogging world to concentrate on - so lets celebrate that instead!

It really is nice to be nice.

p.s. I hope this makes sense - I don't normally go for opinionated wordy posts.

this totally made sense :) i like hearing your opinions! i am going to have to go check out her post. but i know that i am going to agree with you guys. blogging is what you make it.. and sometimes you just have to take the good with the bad.. and just let it go and remember that you blog for you, and not just about what people want you to blog about! hope you have a great day lovely! thanks for sharing!

fantastic, fantastic post! thank you for writing it! I love blogs that are an extension of the writer. You don't need to be writing your life story, but the topics you choose to write about, the style in which you write, all say so much about the person you are. It's a beautiful art form.

The internet really brings out the snideiness (if that's a word? I'm seriously, I've been making up words left right and centre this week!) of people.

It's like they know they can hide behind a persona and be nasty to people.

The great thing is, you can usually tell who's blogging for the elistism and the fame that so few people actually attain to, so it's easy to stay away from them.

And thanks for pointing me toward another awesome blog lovely!

You should read "The Success Principles." I think you will like the inspiring lessons it presents. And I agree with everything you said. So easy to just be nice :).

There's a lot of stigma around people being nice- if they are nice, they will never get ahead. i totally disagree with this. being nice will get you so far in life.

i think you are nice and you are awesome!

I'm in total agreement; it is nice to be nice.

Civility is sorely missing from the spectrum of public opinion recently as we've seen on the news. Wouldn't it be great if more people decided to be nice when expressing their opinions?

Thanks for sharing such a thoughtful post.

I totally agree Rhianne. Plus being nice is so much easier than being mean. I just think each blog is someones individual place to do with what they like, if you dont like it dont hang around, very simple, very easy.

So true! I love blogging for the same reasons and I am so happy to have met so many wonderful people through this. I still cannot wrap my head around why anyone would ever want to be mean or negative - but you're right - it's best to ignore that aspect of blogging!

Ah, love this post ... I am in total agreement although I'm sorry I have been here more often, exams have gotten the better of my time :( But yes ... it's so much better to focus on positivity, cherish what you have, continue making posts about what you love and celebrate the niceness!

thanks for the stress wishes! so far so good...feeling semi-productive tonight ;)

I think the "blog world" is really interesting (esp. as someone who blogs to keep family and friends updated on my life and share my pictures and recipes, not as a part-time vocation or huge hobby or personal outlet...yet!) I've made some "blog friends" but I sort of keep to the periphery of everything, because I'm too busy to get too involved. Some people get way too sucked in and cause unnecessary drama that I find utterly ridiculous, somewhat amusing, and a complete waste of time. If I was into psychology I'd probably have to do a study on it, haha! The internet is a funny thing. We expose our most inner selves, but we are also kept anonymous and distant through actual space. Now this DOES get into my field...(time space compression and social theory) but I am a physical geographer not a social theorist so sometimes I just ignore people and enjoy the trees :) Aaaaand now I basically just wrote a post on blogging too.

Your positivity definitely shows, Rhianne, and I think all of us agree and that is why we read your blog!

Rhianne, you know I was going to write a very similar post just because lately I have been so busy and have found it hard to keep up. I felt like I owed everyone an apology. But this blog is meant to make me happy so I need to keep this in mind. Great post :)

i think if you are going to spew it might as well be a positive rampage. a thought attracts another thought and another and so on and so on. so might as well create a chain of joy rather than pain. all the love!

Very well said Rhianne. Thank you for posting your positive words. I love all those same things about blogging and my blog too, that's why even though my schedule has changed a bit, and I'm a bit more busy, I just can't quit blogging. I've made too many friends. Love these kind of posts especially with your personal feelings.

Well said. If I don't agree with something that someone has written I don't bother commenting because I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings.

Everyone is entitled to write about what they want without being criticised.

thanks for that link to Down and Out Chic. i read her post and found it illuminating.

i've read a lot of negative posts, as well. plenty of complaints about all sorts of things and i've just wondered to myself, why not just follow your enthusiasms?

anyhow, thanks for this post and for sharing.

a fantastic weekend to you,
katrina
