It's a Photoswap 2011. Entry now closed.

Yes, it's that time again!
After the sucess of the last two photoswaps in 2009 and 2010 I felt that now was a great time to kick off the 2011 Photoswap!

For those of you that don't know, here is a quick history of the photoswaps.
It all started when the lovely Susannah posted a link on her Twitter about disposable cameras way back in 2009 and I started to think how wonderful it would be to take photos to then

send to someone else to develop!

I love photos - I especially love photos taken by film cameras and I love the anticipation of waiting for my own photos but waiting for someone elses with no clue about the photos would be beyond exciting!!

Each photoswapper either takes a roll of film
or buys a disposable camera

it has to be something that you develop

and they take photos just for their swap partner,

then send the cameras/films to each other

and develop the other persons photos.
(and posts them on their blogs for everyone to see of course)

The last Manchester Lomoroadshow photos...

As well as using the borrowed LC-A, I also took my little superheadz camera with me to Manchester (the camera wasn't Lomo but the film was, so its fine...) I am still loving the combination of camera and film together and I think it's caught the different atmosphere that Manchester (north, gritty) has compared to Minehead (south, not so gritty - simply put lol) very well.

More Manchester LCA photos...

The more I look at these photos, the sadder I get that the LC-A I used was just a loaner camera and that I had to give it back...

I wasn't sure what I was expecting from this camera but when I first saw the photos I was a little underwhelmed by them: it's easy to get caught up in the hype of something and I wonder if perhaps I was expecting a little too much from it.



However looking at the photos again, more and more details start to pop out that I wouldn't expect to see from my other Lomography cameras and I'm still so impressed by the colours, the contrast balance and delicacy it has with its multiple exposures.

The LC-A has an understated excellence to it and I can imagine with more use I would learn more about its individual charms and I can start to see why people love this camera so much. This camera is definitely going on my christmas list! (and I'm pretty sure it will be worth the rather hefty price tag too).

My Lomo Roadshow Photos Part 1

First, I need to get this out of my system.
Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
There are LC-A photos on my blog. LC-A baby!

Ok, I'm done, but seriously... LC-A. Finally.
I'm going to have to get me one of those one day...
Everything about it was pretty amazing - it sounded great, it was so sturdy yet compact and I really enjoyed using it. I'm also really happy with how the photos turned out.

At first, I found it quite intimidating taking photos in a large group especially as I was using a camera and film I hadn't used before, so I took it as an opportunity to take photos differently from how I usually do too. I focused on the people around me, watching them take photos and taking photos of them, I don't usually do that.



Everytime I try a new film at the moment I seem to be completely overwhelmed by them and the Lomography Xpro Chrome is no exception, I can't get over the richness of the tones and the beautiful contrast, I didn't even tweak any of these photos. I can't wait to use it more.

Minehead Redscale photos...

As well as trying my Ricoh camera out in Minehead I also tried the Lomography XR 50-200 redscale film in my Superheadz Yellow Peace and, oh my gosh, I love these results...

I think this film and camera combination might be a winner! I love how the results vary with the light and the softness of some of the tones compared to the other Lomography redscale film that I've used. Lovely.

Manchester Lomo Roadshow

On Saturday I was lucky enough to be invited to help out the amazing Lomography UK ladies with the Manchester leg of the Lomo Roadshow that has been touring the country.

I had such a good time!

It was great getting to meet people that I've talked to on twitter and through my blog and also so fun meeting new people as well. I spent most of the time watching other people take photos... I always love watching how others see things and it was great to be walking along and have other people just stop next to me as they caught something that they wanted to photograph.

I also got to see some amazing cameras (many that I didn't actually have) and use an LC-A(!!) of course now I want the new LC-A more than anything but I can be patient. Just.

I love the fact that through the internet and my blog I've joined some amazing communities and I have a feeling that I will be spending a lot more time on the Lomography website looking at people's photos and making new friends.
