Amy Adams and Lee Pace are in a film. Together. Oh. My!! I love Amy Adams - I love Lee Pace... surely this is the match made in film heaven?

I am possily too excited about this - however I am going to go out of my way to see Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day!

Hair Bows...

I love bows - I'm not hugely sure why - but they are cute and lovely!

I love this bow!! Adore it! I want to make one for my hair - but how?! Can you buy them ready made to clip in? I'm going to have to investigate...

Once again I forgot the photos from the weekend - which is annoying as I really want to show you the ones of the puppy!

This morning is going reaaally slowly. Its not good. I decided to waste some time trying to find other blogs from Yorkshire - especially as most of the ones I follow are from the US. I felt invigorated after finding The Good Stuff (hes right - it is rude not to pop into the Town Street Tavern!) however everything I found was disappointing: blogs were either written by 13 year olds, not used for 2 years or boring - boooo! Maybe its not a bad thing to stick to the design ones after all!

p.s. decided to look through the Good Stuff and found A Swift One with lots of places to drink in Yorkshire, woo! I really need to learn more about pints :)

Oh also now following 49 blogs after finding lots on beer... double oops!

Oh, how I've missed you...

Its monday again which means back to the blog, yeay! I had friday off as well as the weekend and I feel like I'm returning to visit an old friend after a few years away... sad but true.

Bit of a mixed post today - I was going to write about my excursions from the weekend however I left the photos on my boyfriends computer, so that will have to wait. I do however have a few pictures of the cupcakes I made from my phone! Marble cupcakes! Yummy!

So instead today's blog is once again going to be about blogging - Having managed to catch up on most of my favourite blogs - I stumbled onto Patricia Gray's New Top 10 Interior Design Blogs which is slightly disasterous as I am now following 41 blogs - however its mainly great as I love finding new blogs to read and it forced me to re-arrange the blogs in my side bar.

I've now got two list of blogs - one which is specifically for design and the other for all the other blogs that I read... I think it looks much smarter and its definately easier to navigate now. I also decided to include all the blogs that I follow as I think that they are all really interesting instead of trying to safe space.

Oh my...

This is amazing - I found it through A Room Somewhere and it might be my favourite blog I've stumbled upon yet! Its such a wonderful idea!

Ok things aren't really as bad as my last post indicated - and this is why!! how cute!! I love Cute Overload and the Daily Puppy - they always cheers me up when I'm feeling ick!

Monday again... and I feel like poo. I have another cold!! Another one!

Anyway, I'm beginning to develop an appreciation of cupcakes and how lovely they are... My Mum's friend makes the most stunning cupcakes - these are Lemon Curd ones - I want one so badly.

... I love blogging and reading blogs so much! Sigh... I'm like the little kid on the bike at the end of The Incredibles! This is totally wicked!

Everyday I look at the blog of note - its kind of why I started blogging, I was so inspired... Anyway, todays was Black Eiffel which in turn led me to Rockstar Diaries. I love them both! I want to make pretty things and eat cupcakes more :)

Also I love how the rockstar he and she are completely and totally unashamed by how much they love each other... I want to go shout of the roofs how much I love my man now, hehe!

All I need now is some followers/readers so that I can tell them...

Fairy wings!

I feel like I'm not being creative enough - my blog is as creative as I'm getting at the moment and although I'm loving the expression through words, I would really love to have the time to make more things!

Its been a bit of a slow day today and I really had no idea what I could post about. Then I found this : A duck who thinks she is a dog. Brilliant!

Its totally made my day - if I had the choice I would want to be a dog as well.

Amused

Walking down the muddy tractor path between two fields that is my walk to work in the morning I could hear some faint rustling behind me on the right hand side. Usually I’m quite aware of the sounds around me when I’m walking through the countryside, having spent the majority of my childhood in Norfolk. Distracted by the noise, I kept turning to have a look, thinking it was someone walking behind me, until I heard the sound immediately above my head.

Quickly I looked up and there sitting on the tree branch that towered over my head was a little grey squirrel. I wasn’t really surprised to see it there; we used to see squirrels in the graveyard across from our old flat all the time. In fact I used to watch the neighbouring cats try to catch them for hours, normally when I should have been doing some work. The weirdest noise I’ve ever heard is a squirrel screaming at a cat.

After smiling to myself about seeing the squirrel I kept walking. As I kept going I could here the rustling in the trees following me down the path and as I got towards the main road, I turned to see where the squirrel was. Just as I made eye contact with it, it darted quickly behind a tree… then popped its head around a second later to look at me.

Seeing the squirrel try to hide from me was such a funny sight that I laughed at the thought that it would make a terrible spy: it was noisy, I had heard it all the way down the path; it was obvious and it didn’t blend into the trees at all. Turning away back towards the road, I saw the squirrel scamper off, almost embarrassed out of the corner of my eye and I chuckled the rest of my journey into work...

Watchmen (Movie)

I knew before I went to see the film that the reviews were divided for Watchmen, ranging from 20 to 100 on Metacritic, so I didn't really know what to expect. All I really knew about the comic was that it had a huge fan base and was considered the 'best comic-book of all time'. My expectations were raised only by the knowledge that it was directed by Zack Synder, who also directed The 300.

I loved The 300 and I should really have known that I would love Watchmen, it looked amazing and I was captivated by it the whole time. The problem is I'm not sure why... The characters themselves were unlikeable (apart from Nightowl II) and the conotations of the film were depressing and left me feeling genuinily disheartened. I wonder if that is why I liked it so much though: it bothered me, alot. The characters were extremely troubled, the structure was complicated and sometimes a bit boring, yet the plot and the implications of the comic were not dumbed down as much as I expected to suit a wider audience: I understood the humour, the cynicism and the brutality.

The negative reviews that I finally read this morning left me angry and confused... the references to the new Batman films annoyed me especially - if Watchmen had been made first, the comments would be redundant and the fact they are both based on comics that were produced at the same time indicates that they were both a product of the times, rather than a copy or imitation of each other. I found myself arguing with the reviewers in my head on behalf of the film and getting frustrated when things that confused people seemed obvious to me.

Even though I really enjoyed it, I think the thing that upsets me the most is that it makes too much sense to me - people who want to save the world and think they can alone must have personality disorders, there may never be peace as there would be nothing to write about in the news and maybe, like Jon, God left us for a galaxy less complicated...

Confession

I have a small confesssion. During my book writing phase (it was definItely a phase, I'm not going to try that again - I'm not committed enough, shame though) I found an article by Penelope Trunks called 5 Reasons Why You Don’t Need to Write a Book. The very first point was:

1. People who have a lot of ideas need a blog, not a book.

...and I scoffed! I even tried to justify to myself all the reasons why I shouldn't write a blog - It's self indulgant and I'm lazy, uninteresting and easily distracted - of course having started a blog I've realised that it's the distractions that are worth writing about. I also realise that even though it is a tiny bit self indulgant (I didn't need to write about Pushing Daisies, but I love it) it is actually more of a generous medium than I realised and it's the book writing that is selfish.

There's a whole blogging world out there that I'm interested in and I'm hugely excited about. I love looking at my blogger dashboard, reading the updated blogs and feeling like I've shared something with someone somewhere in doing that. I'm hugely excited that I found this today and now I'm following 24 blogs and I only got to D.

Anyway, what I'm really trying to say is that Penelope Trunk was right - I did need a blog. Not just to write, but to read: I feel more excited about design, life, colours, words and places then I ever have before just through reading other peoples blogs - just imagine the things I can find out for myself and start to write about!

Giddy

Through the wonders that is Virgin On Demand, we have just discovered my favourite television show ever! Pushing Daisies. A bold statement considering that I've only seen 5 episodes so far, however I'm sticking with it!

Weirdly my Dad just got the first series for my Mum for her birthday at the same time that we started watching it, so my Mum must have good taste!

I love Ned... hes charming, cute, sweet and lovely. My first experience of Lee Pace (I'm in love!) was about a month ago when we first got our HD tv - we found The Fall - the most beautiful film I have ever watched, with Lee Pace as the suicidal stuntman. I was fascinated by him even then - the contrast between the characters is amazing, he really is a great actor.

Anyway, enough gushing - the joy of Pushing Daisies is that not only do I love Ned but I love Chuck, she is the female version of Ned and Anna Friel (from England!) is unbelievably lovely. Every episode leaves me smiling at the end, delighted by the story, characters, glorious colours and... (sigh) Chuck's clothes! I might have found my style icon! (finally)

Unbelievably, Pushing Daisies was cancelled (another blow after Arrested Development) but I am determined to enjoy the 2 series that there are and love every single second of it!

Found a new book, yeay!

A hodgepodge of thoughts today :) Can't be helped, I had a whole weekend to think!

I found a new book at the library on Saturday, woop!! I love finding new books to read - the only problem is that I read them too fast, I read the book over the weekend and now I'm back to square one - nothing, boo. Anyway, the book was intriguing, very fast pace, vampires, werewolves and sexy -on par wth Laurell K Hamilton. Of course now I want to read the whole series! Only one bad point - the cover was a bit tacky I thought... but thats not really that important is it?

Disgruntled

Normally I would say that I am a chatty and friendly person, however sometimes I just do not have the time for people, especially people who talk to me either waiting for the bus, on the bus or walking from the bus to work.

Why talk to a stranger?! Granted, we see each other every week day and, yes, I do recognise your face... but just because we live in the same area, get the same bus and work on the same road, it doesn't mean I want to talk to you or hear your life story! Nor do I want to tell you my life story either... I don't know you, why should I tell you where I work?

The first person who started talking to me on the old 33 was fine - she was heavily pregnant and seemed to want to tell me everything: I found out how many brothers she had, heard all about her husband and their families and all the details about the impending baby. It amazed me how much information she eagerly volunteered about herself... Luckily she went on maternity leave and I got to return to my Ipod.

I managed to avoid talking to the people at my bus stop for 7 months, until last week... A lady passed out on the bus and landed pretty much on my feet - I had to ring for the ambulance and one of the girls who gets on at my stop was calming her down. So, obviously, she now has to talk to me... and I was doing so well...

Perhaps if I didn't get the bus so soon after waking up or after a long day at work I would be more amicable towards people, however early mornings + (increasingly) late buses does not equal to me being in pleasant, chatty and patient mood. I must be good at hiding my annoyance/impatience on buses though as these people always seem to find me!

Hooked on blogging...

I think I'm getting hooked on this blogging thing... it could be a problem! I really look forward to thinking of something exciting to write and something new to find on other peoples blogs.

It's bizarre how it has made me realise more things about myself - like I love card making and looking at other peoples creations, I would love to be good at photography, I still get all fuzzy when I see a gorgeous image of an Interior and finding links to Pink Dolphins is awesome! (found at The Almost Daily Exploits of Me)

...and I've learnt that Matthew Williamson (oh my god, I love him, saw him once in London, I nearly died) is doing a collection for H&M!! How did I not know this before?! Eeeee!!

Wedding Party!

I love weddings! I'm a total sucker for them. I cry, I laugh, I smile and sometimes I dance. I was very self restrained at this party though, my eyes welled up during the first dance to Take That - Rule the World (awwwww) however, I didn't full on cry and the eye welling stopped when the bride turned to look at me... and laughed!

Part of me is still in shock that one of my oldest and best friends is married... the other is ridiculously happy for her! The party was great, the decorations, including the balloon arch, worked out well (phew! see below) and everyone seemed to have a lovely time. The bride looked gorgeous in her lovely white dress and the groom looked handsome (and somewhat smug) in his smart casual suit.

I do now want to sit on an elephant on my wedding day and have photos on the beach after seeing all the stunning photos of their wedding in Sri Lanka- I have a feeling that I will only manage one of those though: perhaps Cromer? :)

...but the owner of the posh camera at home stole it back and took them himself - doh! I'm going to share them with you anyway though! Serves him right :)
I love the beach, especially Cromer where these were taken. I don't get to go as often as I would like to, but when I do it always cheers me up, no matter what the weather is like!

The beach on sunday was lovely and quiet, with hardly anyone there. It was beautiful in a misty, eery kind of way. I got to walk all the way along the beach and I also had a double chocolate scoop ice cream from the usual ice cream place which I enjoyed immensely.

Puppy!

One of the highlights of my weekend was getting to see the family dog. I love him!! Every time I am home, I borrow the posh camera and take loads of photos! I managed to take 45 of him this time, which is quite impressive considering how little I saw him!

He's very tolerant of me really, considering that I got right in his face and spent ages following him around waiting for him to sit still. I did give him a biscuit and a cuddle to say thank you though... Awwww!

Back to Reality and Metallica!

Sleepy. I'm so sleepy today... Sleepier than before I had my 3 days of holiday. Its been a busy (long) weekend and I have lots I want to share with you, so I should imagine there will be a few posts today, I've half planned 2 after this already, oops! I'll continue with Metallica in this post to start!

Metallicaaaa!

The Metallica gig was immense - I have never seen anything like it. The band were outstanding(of course) exceptionally talented, generous and incredibly interactive with the audience. The audience was electric - we had seats on the top tier and the standing crowd surrounding the centre stage looked like water - rippling and flowing around the stage with the occasional whirlpool moshpit gathering at the centre of each side. Amazing!

The best parts were watching the bass player Robert Trujillo (although no spinning this time) and my fave song was 'Nothing Else Matters'. Also the fans fascinated me - the age range was huge, there was a child of about 5 in the audience, who got the whole bands attention and a drum stick, lucky kid and an old man, who must have been at least 80 -the most amazing true rocker I have ever seen with a bandana! Each one was as dedicated as the next, completely captivated by the 4 men on the stage, giving back as much as they were taking.

We watched the Metallica film a few years ago (Some Kind of Monster - brilliant would definately recommend) and I found them all to be grounded, creative (though troubled) people, who were dedicated to their art, through the music, each other and the fans. I was not dissapointed by their characters on stage or I definately felt the love - from all included.

I have never seen anything like it - and I probably won't again... well, until the next time!
