Pantone Spring Fashion Colours 2009

Whilst stumbling around on my Pantone Home and Interiors search I stumbled upon this beauty. I never used to be that much into fashion - I always thought that fashion at university was elitist and manipulative - my housemate (a fashion student) tried harder to look cool rather than to have her own personal look. However after reading blogs such as Cupcakes and Cashmere my love for shoes, bags, ruffles, pretty colours and personal style has been reignited!
Out of the booklet this is my favourite outfit - I absolutely adore the skirt
and I love the contrast of the gray against the orange. Lovely.

Isn't it funny how you find these things out - especially when this just happens to be my favourite colour right now! Who knew I was so cool? haha!

Yellow, Yellow, Yellow.

If you had asked me 2 months ago what my favourite colour was - I would have said red. However... my favourite colour right at the moment is now yellow. I love it! I think it may have started with the tights, but now I am completely enthralled by it!

How lovely are these images of yellow within Interiors from Country Living... I am completely in love -all I need now is a house with walls I can actually paint!

Things I've learnt from blogs this week...

Its been a great week overall I would say - I've had my hair cut, finally been paid (was a 5 week month, ug) and its one year today until two of my best friends gets married - to each other, eeeeee!

1. Its grilled cheese month - yum! Shame I found out so late though - how good does number 10 look?
2. Sometimes I miss Norwich - especially in the Spring!
3. One day I will have my own library... though with books as well as DVD's!
4. Cupcakes are worth protecting!
5. I really want to see an aura soma colour therapist - ohhhhhh

Matthew Williamson... Eep!

The Matthew Williamson collection at H&M went on sale yesterday in London and sold out in less than an hour! I want some! Of course loads of it is on Ebay already and I'm so tempted. It’s going for over 3 times the price it was in London though, boo.

The collection is available in all shops across the UK from the 14th of May - so maybe I will get lucky and manage to bag myself something. Hopefully this cardigan, or the yellow top underneath - eep!

If I had more money then I would probably get the maxi dress too! I tried one on which was similar but no way near as nice in TKMaxx and I was really surprised that they actually suit me quite well, despite the fact that I'm quite short.

The mini dress is gorgeous too and I'm surprisingly taken by the leather jacket - oh if only I had several hundred pounds spare...

I love Matthew Williamson.... sigh.

Blogging...

I'm really quite new to blogging and the blogging world and honestly - I find it quite challenging. In one sense it is hugely rewarding, I have found things I like and I have realised more about my tastes in fashion, design, cupcakes, books, films - everything. I have discovered blogs that are windows into life's letting me experiencing things I have not even imagined - farming, crafts, marriage, babies... Yet despite all that when reading other peoples blogs, there are still undertones of negativity.

Reading other peoples blogs have inspired me to be more creative, adventurous and loving... so I find it difficult when other people have negative reactions or words towards things that I find charming and inspiring. I wish that I was braver, that I could comment on other peoples blogs - to tell them that I love reading them, I feel inspired by them and I hope they keep blogging, yet the negativity in me - my own worries and insecuritites - stops me.

How is that some peoples negativities can drive them to say hurtful things, yet mine stop me from saying nice things?

Lonely Werewolf Girl

I love the library - it is a place of wonder and hidden worlds. I also love picking up random books that look interesting and taking the risk. It doesn't cost me anything and who knows, I might find a hidden gem.

I'm not really sure why I picked up Lonely Werewolf Girl by Martin Millar this weekend - I already have 3 books I need to read at home - but something about the cover appealed to me, it was edgy and cool - to be honest, apart from the title it looked a little out of place in the sci-fi and fantasy section. The cover of the book reflects upon the story - although it is about werewolfs (and elementals) there is nothing fantastical about it - it is a realistic portayal of what it might be like for werewolfs in a modern time.

Once I started reading I was hooked despite my initial reservations of drug abuse within the story. The characters are intriguing: troubled yet likeable, the plot is complex and carefully woven together so that each chapter is a thrill and each storyline is compelling enough to make you want to read more. Compared to other books within the genre, Lonely Werewolf girl is a refreshing and welcome change and I look forward to discovering more about Martin Millar's work, especially The Good Fairies of New York.

I have had far too much exciting news this weekend and this might just push me over the limits of my exitement!! Eeeeeee!!

Debbie Bryant of Debbry531's Flickr Page fame - all the way back in February has a blog and a website! More places to look at her glorious photos and read about her gorgeous dogs!

I wish now that:

1. I had a puppy
2. I lived in the US so that I could take my puppy to be photographed by her!
3. I had thought of a name like Thank Dog - genius.

I am so excited about the opportunity to see more of her photos and I feel really inspired for when I eventually get my own dog (and posh camera) I really hope that her photography goes well and I can not wait for her next blog update. Eeeeeeeee!

Man on Wire

I love that feeling of sitting down to watch a film with no expectations. I especially love that feeling when the film turns out to be incredibly moving, funny and completely awe inspiring.

Man on Fire is the academy award winning documentary about Phillipe Petit, a french tight-rope walker, unicyclist, magician and pantomime artist who in 1974 stepped out on a wire illegally rigged between New York's Twin Towers without a net.

The whole idea of illegally tight rope walking a 43m gap at 1,368 ft is unbelieavable, yet watching the film you are totally enthralled by Petit's enthusaism, personality and ambition. He is an incredible performer and it is not just the walk that makes the film so compelling but also his storytelling and the supporting stories from his friends, especially Annie Allix and Jean-Louis Blondeau.

The fact that he is so genuine and has no reason to perform such an act other than the fact that we wants to drives the story along and when the task is completed and Annie Allix is crying at the memory of something so beautiful, you feel like you have been part of something incredibly special, not just because of the story, but because of the people.

Things I've learnt from blogs this week...

Well its been a bit of a slow week on my side... the bank holidays have totally thrown me. My sleep patterns are weird, my days are all muddled and my brain is confused. Thankfully other blogs aren't suffering the same afflictions... phew!

1. You can get married at Kirkstall Abbey - how lovely!
2. Coloured tape makes gift wrapping so much better.
3. I would be so happy if I could draw like this...
4. I am fascinated with weddings and wedding dresses at the moment and I don't even want to get married.
5. Storm chasing photography is amazing!

Coloured Tights... Yeay!

The Real Ale Shop

Last week we went to the Real Ale Shop near Wells. I had no idea that it was there or that there are 18 brewaries in Norfolk! Amazing!


We got 6 ales between us - here are mine and the boyfriends choices:


First I tried the Reedcutter from Humpty Dumpty Brewary in Reedham, Norfolk and the boyfriend had Black Beauty Coffee Porter from Wagtail Brewary, Old Buckenham, Norfolk.



I don't really know alot about Ales, but the Reedcutter was delicious - very fresh and light with a malty taste that sat delightfully in the throat. Wagtail's Black Beauty was alot tastier than I expected - very smooth with only a hint of coffee which was intriguing rather than overpowering. Although not as throaty as the Reedcutter, the taste sat comfortably at the back of the tongue. Both the boyfriend and I felt very smug sitting in Norfolk supping on Norfolk Ale's, it must be said :)

P.S. I really wanted this ale from the Elveden Brewary. 1. because it is made by Elves (obviously) and 2. because I love the bottle! Was £6 though - doh!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter! I now have an extended weekend, so won't be back until Tuesday. Hope everyone enjoys some nice chocolate - I'm making easter cupcakes yeay!

p.s How cute is the easter tree? it was in a dentist of all places...

Waiting for Godot - with Patrick Stewart and Sir Ian McKellen

Its not very often that you sit and watch something knowing that you are enjoying a once in a lifetime experience. Something that you will never smell, see, or hear ever again, something like Patrick Stewart and Sir Ian McKellen as Vladimir and Estragon in Samuel Beckett's 'play about nothing' Waiting for Godot at the Norwich Theatre Royal.

I first read Waiting for Godot 6 years ago whilst studying English Literature at College. I loved it - I loved reading it, analysing it and writing essays about it. I never once saw it performed though... which was silly really, with hindsight, but there were no shows of it on and I don't think it would have worked as well on video.

Being a total geek I have loved Patrick Stewart since the first series of Star Trek - The Next Generation (totally love it!) I also went to the University where he is Chancellor (Huddersfield) yet I never once saw him - he didn't even do my graduation... In fact I'm still a bit put out I had to pay to see him, but thats not the point of this post...

The point is that with all the expectations I had of knowing and loving the play and the actors, still did not prepare me for how wonderful and amazing Waiting for Godot is when performed. It was funny, captivating, enchanting and endearing, the time seemed to fly by. Simon Callow was perfect as Pozzo, as was Ronald Pickup as Lucky and the friendship that Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen have translated so well into the characters that you really felt for Vladimir and Estragon's plight, even though you knew it was helpless.

We saw the play on Monday and I've only just written this as I still can't really believe that I saw it... Patrick Stewart and Sir Ian McKellen as Vladimir and Estragon in Samuel Beckett's 'play about nothing' Waiting for Godot... enough said really.

Aliens Vs Monsters 3D (Movie)

First I will admit that I have what my boyfriend terms as 'a lowbrow sense of humour' - though I don't think thats entirely accurate... just because I find some silly things really really funny, doesn't mean I'm lowbrow... Anyway, due to my sense of humour I found Aliens Vs Monsters extremely funny and really good fun. I laughed so hard I was crying at parts. It was Finding Nemo all over again - I was the only person laughing and the cinema was full of kids - the shame!

The cast of this film was ridiculous - Reese Witherspoon, Hugh Laurie (I love him!), Seth Rogan, Keifer Sutherland - to name a few... and each one was brilliant at portraying likeable and funny characters. Stephen Colbert was also a treat as the President - he had the best scene of the film!

Aliens Vs Monsters was also the first film that I saw in 3D and it was amazing! It turned a good, funny film into a great, funny film. I looked a bit silly with the 3D glasses over the top of my normal glasses, but it was worth it, I even flinched when a ball came flying towards me. Overall the film was great - despite the simple plot it was funny, endearing and very enjoyable - I giggled all the way home!

Things I've learnt from blogs this week...

Well I did have today's posts already planned out, but then (of course) I got distracted by things... oops :)

1. I really need to arrange my books in colour order - here and here.
2. I want mixtape wedding invitations - not that the boyfriend makes me tapes anymore, he makes me cds and spotify playlists... hehe i love him
3. Its ok to delete your facebook - the world will not end (not that I did - I deleted my Myspace and Bebo though...)
4. I really really really must get some yellow tights!
5. Chocolate and beer - together - sounds perfect :)

Wells - Saltmarsh Coast Gallery

Whilst we were at Wells my boyfriend dragged me into the Saltmarsh Coast Gallery to buy some prints. His parents and his Grandmother already owned prints of the beach huts and he really wanted some too.

The gallery hosts photos by Gareth Hacon and Jon Gibbs which are mounted and framed within the shop. I'll admit, it took us a while to settle on two that we liked... however we now have two more prints (to go with our London ones) that are absolutely beautiful.

All I need now is that gallery wall to put them on...

Wells-Next-The-Sea

One day I will retire to the seaside and if I'm lucky it will be to Wells.

We've been going to Wells ever since I can remember, however it was only when I got with my Boyfriend that it became somewhere that I started going regularly, as we always lived that little bit too far away.

My first memory of Wells is climbing up the huge slope (which isn't there anymore) carrying my bucket and spade, trying as hard as my little legs could carry me to get up as fast as I could. That same day we took the little train, went on the roundabout on the park (not sure that is there either anymore...) and went into the awesome sweetshop opposite the amusements. I still love that sweetshop...

Never before have I seen seals on Wells beach though and I couldn't believe it when we saw them there! I've seen seals before on the Norfolk coast, however they are normally further towards Blakeney. I counted 8 in total, but there could have been more. These two were enjoying a sunbathe though... and I don't blame them!

Ingleton Waterfalls (Part 2)

How lovely are the waterfalls? They were absolutely stunning! My favourite part was the last photo - there were benches where you could just sit and watch the water run and the world fly by. The amazing thing about these waterfalls is that they are thousands of years old - time almost means nothing to them, they just carry on their part of the cycle relentlessly... it almost makes you feel completely insignificant when you are there. Almost :)

Finally... Ingleton Waterfalls (Part 1)

Finally I have the pictures from last weekend... we went to Ingleton Waterfalls in North Yorshire. It's a 4 mile hike which goes up along one river, across the hills, then down another river. Needless to day we were all very sleepy by the time we had finished... it was amazing though and worth the sore legs! Harry slept for two days straight afterwards, hehe...

Part 1 is the pictures of the arty things we saw along the way - the first time I noticed the coins in in the dead tree I got very excited - how much money do you think is in them? Harry also got excited as he could see over it... He's so cute!

Oh my...

A series of rare film posters went under the hammer at Christie's in London last month.

I love vintage posters - I'm totally in love with the Sabrina poster and the fact its not in English just makes it more appealing! All I would have needed was £12,000 and these could have been mine! I wish...

Things I have learnt from blogs this week...

1. I must get some yellow tights - I was planning on it anyway, but these pics have totally sold me!
2. I need to get a new posh camera so that I can post some lovely photos on here that aren't from my rubbish phone - shame my birthday is ages away...
3. Revealing personal details about yourself on your blog is not necessarily a bad thing as demonstrated fully by Rockstar Diaries
4. I love baskets!! Especially the one with the kitty - awww!
5. Gray interiors are gorgeous! Definately feeling some inpiration for my bedroom at my parents house!
