Oh my...

{All images taken by Andrew Millar and used with his permission,
to see the individual photos on Flickr, click on an image}

Sometimes I stumble upon photos on Flickr that truly take my breath away... and these photos by Andrew Millar taken with the newer Impossible Project films and a SX-70 have done just that.

The colours, tones, light and subject matter in these are just stunning and I always have a weakness for photos of horses and silhouettes. But it's the top right photo that's my favourite and it alone makes me want to try even harder to populate my photos and to capture the lovely little moments of interaction between people.

To see more of Andrew's photos, check out his Flickr photostream (I highly recommend it) or his Facebook page - you won't be disappointed.

And the camera is...

A fair number of you got it right and I'm so glad about that.

vintage chair full

This beautiful photo by JMK Photos is the main reason that I've decided to experiment more with my instax mini recently - when I first saw it I thought it was a polaroid film of some sort, its so soft and delicate yet the contrasts are strong, I loved it straight away. Imagine my surprise when I realised it was from a fuji instax camera!

The reason I had this little quiz was really a reminder to myself what great cameras and films the instax family are.  They can be considered a bit of a gimmick and normally get a unjust negative comparison to polaroids but I think every camera is what you make of it and if you're willing to experiment a bit and believe that you can produce the results you want then with effort, you can.

You can see the rest of my recent instax mini photos here...

p.s. I normally keep the frame on my instax minis when I scan them but I'm wondering if I should remove it from some, as sometimes it feels like it detracts from the beauty and the quality of the image.

Photo Meditation photos...

I took these during week 1 of Photo Meditations. Every day I walk the same way to work and I have taken a lot of photos of the route but this time I tried to implement what we had been taught that week and see it a bit differently. I'm really happy with the results.

The colours and light this day were so lovely and I loved how the wire seemed to follow the line of the fields so well.

Oh my...

Neon Test 2

How absolutely beautiful is this photo by Jon Campolo on Flickr!

I've been looking through the Impossible Project PX680 Flickr group for the beta testing of the film, trying not to get too excited about the new film (and failing...) and this photo just completely blew me away.

I really hope that this film is better than the first possible project film that I tried... my photos are almost completely faded now and I still feel a bit let down by that when I think about how much I paid for them.

p.s. I'm completely addicted to Flickr... so many beautiful photos!

p.p.s. Laura asked if it was available yet but I think it the beta stock has sold out. Oh and it is for 600 cameras (which I have, woo). I probably should have mentioned that originally...

Redscale around Leeds...

Photo03_3APhoto10_10APhoto08_8APhoto07_7APhoto14_14A

The bottom photo is Thomas in the snow... looking towards Leeds City Centre, I'm completely in love with that photo!

I've been slowly adding my film photos from the last two years to my Flickr account (I went pro!) so you can now see the entire redscale film here - its a bit hit and miss but I'm still so happy with how my first roll turned out.

I highly recommend the Harry love collection on my flickr page too... just saying...

p.s. I've going to try replying to people comments in the comment box from now on - I'll admit defeat and say that time is against me when it comes to visiting peoples blogs as well as reading my favourites... and having a life... so if you left me a comment last friday, there should be a reply in the comment box! I already feel like I'm having conversations with people replying that way, yeay!

p.p.s. If that doesn't work - how do people feel about disqus? I've seen a few people adding it lately and I'm intrigued to hear what you all think...

p.s. I've hit a bit of a bloggers block - it's odd!

I received Helen's film on Friday and got it developed over the weekend! It was sooo exciting!

Unfortunately I just spent 30 minutes fighting with a scanner and I failed to get it to work so I have no photos for you yet.
I do have the first photos for the Photoswap from Amy and Katie for you though - how exciting is this! I'll start putting together the big post once I get more links to add :)

For more of Amy and Katie's photos check out the Photoswap Flickr Group!

A long weekend in Norfolk: Cromer Part I

First I am going to shamelessly admit that all of these photos were taken by my Sister's boyfriend with his fancy camera and show off zoom! Check out his new Flickr page that I convinced him to start - my favourite is Attlebridge in Winter
(its the village I grew up in and its lovely! Attlebridge that is... not Cromer unfortunately)

How cute does Harry look on the beach - he didn't look anywhere near as cute when we had to bath him afterwards, hehe!

Caught in the rain...

This morning I got caught in the rain without an umbrella... and to make it worse my bus was late and I got wet feet - theres nothing worse than cold, soggy feet.

Rather than feel too sorry for myself I decided to cheer myself up by looking at some pretty pictures on Flickr - I wish I had had my Holga with me now... oh well :)

1. paris in the the rain, 2. Millennium Bridge, London 2004. Rain., 3. --> the beauty of the holga, 4. Artist in the Rain, 5. Rainy HOLGA #2, 6. Holga B/W, 7. Rain Check, 8. rain, 9. hawaii rain, 10. After it rained., 11. Rainy HOLGA #3, 12. rainy day

p.s. Isn't it great how blogging can turn a negative into a plus? Also I think its quite fitting all the photos were in black and white...

Toy Camera Love...

My Holga is in England! Unfortunately its still at the Post Office as it can't fit through my letterbox (no surprise really) so I have to wait until Saturday for it to be redelivered... I'm not sure I cant wait that long, eep!

So... to distract me until the weekend I found these gorgeous photos on flickr taken by plasticniki with a Vivitar Ultra wide and slim 35mm camera.

I think I can see a new obsession with toy 35mm film cameras forming! I love!

Holga anticipation...

{I can't wait!}

How amazing are these photos, theres a whole Flickr group dedicated to the Holga 135, I love them all.

Also I showed Boyfriend the group yesterday and now he's really excited about 'our' new camera too - I have a feeling he will be stealing it from me periodically... hehe!

Oh oh and he said he might get me the fisheye lens for my birthday (all the way in Sept)
isn't he nice? :)

'Its Wednesday... I'm in Love'

{perfect picture - fountaincoke on flickr}

I've lost count of the number of times I've fallen in love with my boyfriend... just as I think I can't love him any more he says or does something that makes my heart flutter.

If he didn't already have my heart yesterday I would have thought that he was a man after it!

We were sitting on the couch talking about weddings (happening a bit at the moment, which is bizarre as neither of us really want to get married yet, I blame all our friends getting married!) and I said that I loved the photobooth idea and he said...

"Wouldn't it better to have someone go round with a polaroid camera? Then people could write things underneath the photo and we could stick them on a wall."

Eeep!! Yes it would! That sounds perfect to me :)
(I hope he doesn't read this now - its a bit embarrassing when you get caught gushing...
how cute is he for coming up with that himself though !)

Eeeeeeeee!!!

I have had far too much exciting news this weekend and this might just push me over the limits of my exitement!! Eeeeeee!!

Debbie Bryant of Debbry531's Flickr Page fame - all the way back in February has a blog and a website! More places to look at her glorious photos and read about her gorgeous dogs!

I wish now that:
  1. I had a puppy
  2. I lived in the US so that I could take my puppy to be photographed by her!
  3. I had thought of a name like Thank Dog - genius.

I am so excited about the opportunity to see more of her photos and I feel really inspired for when I eventually get my own dog (and posh camera) I really hope that her photography goes well and I can not wait for her next blog update. Eeeeeeeee!

Update: Found a link on her blog to Shine Pet Photos Blog - Eep!

Good news!

I'm in quite a good mood - it could be a mixture of only working three days this week or it could be from stumbling onto Debbry531's flickr page.

I think I'm in love with these dogs!! I love dogs as it is, but these photos are stunning. How could you not fall in love with them? :)

On a side note - as theraputic as thinking through my emotions is (who knew I was so guilt ridden) it can lead to me feeling a bit depressed too, so I'm going to try and explore some of my positive feelings more!
