Oh my...

{All images taken by Andrew Millar and used with his permission,
to see the individual photos on Flickr, click on an image}

Sometimes I stumble upon photos on Flickr that truly take my breath away... and these photos by Andrew Millar taken with the newer Impossible Project films and a SX-70 have done just that.

The colours, tones, light and subject matter in these are just stunning and I always have a weakness for photos of horses and silhouettes. But it's the top right photo that's my favourite and it alone makes me want to try even harder to populate my photos and to capture the lovely little moments of interaction between people.

To see more of Andrew's photos, check out his Flickr photostream (I highly recommend it) or his Facebook page - you won't be disappointed.

What Polaroids Were Made For...

Yesterday my friend Diana posted a polaroid of herself from when she was little and it reminded me that I had found one of me whilst hunting through some old family photos earlier in the year that I hadn't got around to posting.
Polaroid - Little Me
As you can see both Diana and I used to rock the bowl-styled haircut with white tights look in the mid 80's.

Kirkstall Abbey Polaroids!

Eeeeeee, we had the most amazing weekend ever!

Adele is amazing and pretty and lovely and adorable and so kind... gah, I love her and I am still so happy that she came to visit (especially after her terrible journey to get here!)

I have so much I want to share but first... polaroids. After chatting with Adele about the impossible film that we both tried, I decided to brave it and take the rest of mine with us on our walk around the abbey and they turned out well!!

I'm so excited about them, I think the last two may even be shop worthy! What do you think?

I'm so glad that I tried using these again... now I just have to resist buying the new ones!!

p.s. you can't tell but Adele is wearing a yellow skirt... just one of the reasons she is amazing.

Oh my...

Neon Test 2

How absolutely beautiful is this photo by Jon Campolo on Flickr!

I've been looking through the Impossible Project PX680 Flickr group for the beta testing of the film, trying not to get too excited about the new film (and failing...) and this photo just completely blew me away.

I really hope that this film is better than the first possible project film that I tried... my photos are almost completely faded now and I still feel a bit let down by that when I think about how much I paid for them.

p.s. I'm completely addicted to Flickr... so many beautiful photos!

p.p.s. Laura asked if it was available yet but I think it the beta stock has sold out. Oh and it is for 600 cameras (which I have, woo). I probably should have mentioned that originally...

Camera Collection Part II: Polaroid cameras

Way back in October 2009 I wrote my first letter to polaroid cameras, determined that I would buy one... and now I have 7, haha!!

Polaroid Land Camera 340 Automatic

(sent to me by the lovely Adeline. I could happily look at this camera all day!)

The Supercolor was/is my parents polaroid camera and the only one I've actually tried film in but I was disappointed with my impossible project film results (they look nothing like that now!) so I don't think I'll be trying the others out anytime soon which is a shame...

Which camera would you take to Paris?

I read an article that someone retweeted on Twitter the other day about how it's not the camera that takes an amazing photo but the photographer and I thought it was quite fitting for this post.

Whilst I have all of these cameras (and I love them all), I wouldn't be able to produce these myself and I love that each set shows the photographer's individuality and flare in spite of the location and the cameras they have used...

Who really wants to go to Paris now? I do!
Such gorgeous photos!!

p.s. I would obviously take as many cameras as I could carry lol, Poland is going to be fun camera wise!

A polaroid themed giveaway - closed!!

Right now I am (hopefully) sitting on a train to Minehead for ATP curated by Matt Groening! I am so excited!

So... as I have no polaroids to share with you today I decided that now would be an awesome time to have a giveaway to celebrate polaroid week and being nice!

This giveaway is a bit epic as there will be
not one but four different winners
each winning something from a truly wonderful shop.

I must admit I am a teeny bit jealous of the winners already.

First up is the lovely Diana with her shop City Light Photography. I have loved Diana's work for almost as long as I have been blogging and I always automatically think of her images when I think of polaroids so I am delighted to include her work in the giveaway!

So you can win... Diana's Polaroid Carnival Set which includes 3 gorgeous 5x5 prints of polaroid photos.

Next up is Phebe with her creative polaroid prints, I only discovered Phebe's flickr this week through Pugly Pixel but I was instantly smitten and inspired by her sense of fun and adventure especially as I am just now starting to take polaroids of my own.

So you can win... an 8 x 10 print of Phebe's delightful Legs in the Sky print.

Next is Sarah from Urban Varieties with her amazing prints. I have a weakness for anything camera related on Etsy and when I first saw these my heart skipped a beat at the simplicity of how beautiful the black lines looked against the colour backgrounds. I could happily own one of each print if Thomas let me...

So you can win... An 8 x 10 print of Sarah's beautiful Polaroid 640 in teal.

And, last but not least is one of my favourite etsy shops, Cute n Boot. I already own some the pocket books from this shop and I absolutely adore carrying them around in my bag during the day just in case I need to write something down.

So you can win... a set of Cute n Boots darling polaroid pocket books portraying a time line of polaroid cameras.

The winners for this giveaway have now been announced.

Thank you to everyone who commented!!

Are you excited?? I am! I hope you have all loved Polaroid week not just here but on my tumblr and of course Flickr as well... I already can't wait for next year... I might have some colour polaroids by then!

Happy weekend!!

Polaroid excitement...

Why hasn't anyone brought this yet??

Did you know its polaroid week next week??

I honestly can't believe that I have a polaroid camera and film I can use for it this year - and get this - you can use any instant film - so I actually have two cameras I could use...
Excited yet? I am!!

and...

to add to my excitement even more, one of my favourite polaroid inspirations Susannah Conway is writing a how to book about instant photography.

Happy weekend!! I'm off to take some instant photos :)

Polaroids from the weekend...

After all the worry of the polaroids not arriving in time, in the end I only took 3 polaroids over the weekend... It was a lot more complicated than I expected due to chemicals within the newer films and it just wasn't practical to take to the wedding as my dress didn't have any pockets to protect the photos from over exposing.

Although the first photo was too hot when it developed and turned a bit red, the second photo was over exposed somehow and the third one isn't quite focused, I still love them and I can't wait to find somewhere in our house to put them!

Polaroids and weekend away...

{an amazing amount of stuff crammed into my yellow weekend bag}

I'm so excited! My polaroids arrived today, just in time for me to go home and just in time for Kay's wedding!!

Did I say..?
I'm so excited!!

Of course the first polaroid I took had to be of Harry, isn't he cute? Though the polaroid turned out more brown than silver...

I probably won't be around for a few days, though I will try and share somethings but I have lots to do - make favour boxes and truffles, have lunch with my parents, get a manicure, decorate the venue - you know, wedding type things.

Have a good weekend!!

Eeeeee!

The polaroid film for the 600 cameras is now available.
I just brought 3 packs!!

Thomas is possibly going to kill me...

It will all be worth it if they arrive in time for the wedding though!

Eeeeeeeeeeee!

p.s. anyone know how long it takes for them to arrive?
p.p.s. I'm so excited - I feel a little bit sick - thats normal right??

Things I've learnt from blogs this week...

Yeay its Friday - I'm so glad this week has gone fast - I am more than ready for the weekend!

This week has been a bit odd for me - my moods are all over the place and just when I think I've figured myself out - I'm in another funk - I think it must the time of year for it... I can't wait for Spring, a bit of sunshine and lighter evenings! I'm hoping the weather stays nice enough for me to take some photos this weekend (and maybe even master my little fuji)- I think it will help...

I'm still wrestling in my head over polaroid film - I go to buy it and just before I hit check out I start to have second thoughts... these next few links are helping to sway me towards getting some sooner rather than later though...

  1. I love Susannah's polaroids and her blog is just amazing!
  2. Amanda's polaroids make my heart melt...
  3. I adore these polaroids
  4. I love clever polaroids!
  5. I love holgaroid's too!
  6. (oh and fuji instax mini's!)
And because I didn't do any links last week, heres a few extra of my favourites!

  1. Oh, I think I want a yellow hat!
  2. I love this stationary display (and all thing stationary, what a nerd...)
  3. I am loving these stamps (and the link the to tumblr!)
  4. I love the idea of revamping every month - I need to get organised first though.
  5. How to make the most adorable hearts - just in time for February
Have a great weekend!

p.s oh and I'm getting my Slow Readers Book Club book from the library tomorrow, I can't wait to start reading it!

A quick hello!

Beautiful snow polaroid by dfuster74 found on Polanoid.net
(how have I only just found this website?)

Sorry for the lack of real post today, I've been asleep all day because I'm sick - I always sleep when I'm sick and end up being totally disorientated... anyway I hope to be back and running soon and I hope everyone had a more productive Monday than me!

Woohooo!!!

First I just have to say that Boyfriend is a legend! He managed to find the one thing I have been searching for for months... a polaroid camera in a charity shop for under £5!!!

(please excuse my cosy hoody and messy hair :D)

He earned some serious brownie points when he surprised me with this baby!! (though he already maxed out the counter ages ago)

Now here begins the great poloroid film debate in my head - is it really worth spending £20 on a pack of 10 photos? What if I mess them up? Can I afford them?

I know deep down I want them - as much as I wanted the camera in the first place but my sensible side is crying at £2 a photo!

'Its Wednesday... I'm in Love'

{perfect picture - fountaincoke on flickr}

I've lost count of the number of times I've fallen in love with my boyfriend... just as I think I can't love him any more he says or does something that makes my heart flutter.

If he didn't already have my heart yesterday I would have thought that he was a man after it!

We were sitting on the couch talking about weddings (happening a bit at the moment, which is bizarre as neither of us really want to get married yet, I blame all our friends getting married!) and I said that I loved the photobooth idea and he said...

"Wouldn't it better to have someone go round with a polaroid camera? Then people could write things underneath the photo and we could stick them on a wall."

Eeep!! Yes it would! That sounds perfect to me :)
(I hope he doesn't read this now - its a bit embarrassing when you get caught gushing...
how cute is he for coming up with that himself though !)
