'Why do you shoot film?' blog series...

Yesterday Shokoofeh posted about a blog series that she was taking part in... and as soon as I saw it, I honestly couldn't believe that I hadn't seen it before.

Astrid from Hei Astrid has the most amazing collection of over 60 photographers taking part in her blog series
'Why do you shoot film?'
With each photographer giving their reasons with a supporting photo and I am completely smitten.

Here are a few of my favourite photos and quotes from the series so far. I still haven't looked through them all yet...

{Click on the individual photos to go to the flickr page or blog of each photographer}

I can relate to every single photographer and I love how film affects everyone differently!

Wouldn't these make the most amazing book?

See more of Astrid's series here.

More Bolton Abbey...

The weekend wasn't my first visit to Bolton Abbey this year, last month one of my friends got married close to Bolton Abbey and on the following day a few of us went for a walk.

Photo19_15APhoto23_19APhoto21_17APhoto20_16APhoto22_18APhoto26_22APhoto25_21A

It was a bit of a gloomy day in comparison to last weekend but I think the photos turned out really well for it - very atmospheric, a bit like I imagine Wuthering Heights to feel...

Tina left a comment yesterday about how lucky I am to be able to visit these places and she's right. I love how close Kirkstall Abbey and Bolton Abbey are to where I live... especially when I get photos like these!

Location: Bolton Abbey, North Yorkshire
Camera: Superheadz Yellow Peace
Film: Kodak ISO 200

Family weekend fuji's...

As it was my Dad's birthday weekend (see previous post) my family came to visit and we went to Bolton Abbey for the day! Bolton AbbeyAlong the river at Bolton AbbeyHarry with his stickFamily at Bolton AbbeyBolton Abbey
I'm not sure what happened with the last photo but it does look pretty cool, I love film surprises... oh and Harry's little face. He was very pleased with his stick!

Yeay for family weekends!

Happy birthday Dad...

Today is my Dad's birthday... although I saw him all weekend, I'm still sad that I won't get to see him today, so here is a post just for him.

Have a great day Dad, I love you x

p.s. your card said you were the best Dad, I thought that was pretty apt :)

My first shadow shot Sunday...

It's Sunday and I'm posting, a rare occasion... however I saw some perfect opportunities to take part in Shadow Shot Sunday over on Hey Harriet whilst we were in Liverpool, so here we are! Photo20_20Photo34_34

We were both taking this photo of our shadows at the 'Peace and Harmony' Memorial for John Lennon at the same time, I love it! Happy shadow shot Sunday :)

Liverpool is all about The Beatles!

Photo06_6The Beatles Mini'sPhoto15_15Beatle's ShopPhoto17_17Photo15_11A

I love The Beatles and I loved finding out more about them whilst we were in Liverpool. The Beatles Story was really interesting and great value I thought for everything that we saw and it was fun to find The Cavern Club, have my photo taken with John Lennon (the only one thing that I really wanted to do in Liverpool lol) and to find statues of them all on buildings...

Cameras: Diana Mini (B&W), superheadz yellow peace and fuji instax mini
Film: Ilford XP2 4oo, Kodak 200 and fuji instax mini film.
Location: Liverpool, England.

Have a great weekend!

p.s. I'm still loving the new layout, yeay

Oh my...

It's not very often that I reblog something on here but I am completely in love with everything in this home - the cameras, the dog, the gallery wall, the coat hangers... everything!!

If you haven't seen this post on sfgirlbybay featuring the home of Dabito from Old Brand New (my new favourite blog!) then you have to look, now! I insist. And if you've already seen it, look again... you may have missed something!

Wow. My house will look like that some day!

New blog layout...

new blog layout

Eeee, I'm excited about this.

So I mentioned a while ago that I was getting twitchy about my blog layout but all I did was update my post and sidebar font... well, but now I've completely updated it.

I wanted something fresh, clean, with less 'stuff' and I wanted a side header (it still changes when you refresh too, yeay). I loved Katrina's layout Lemon Meringue on Powered by Pastries with the smaller header on the side and I loved as well what Ana and Elle did with it - but it wasn't exactly what I wanted... but I think this is.

Some aspects still need tweaking but I'm in no rush to sort everything out straight away, so I apologise if the images to the right still look a bit messy, I think I'll be tweaking it for a while yet, my last layout took me months to get right.

p.s. I finally a have photoshop at work, woo (though I still think Paint.net is amazing for free) so the pretty sparkles are for C and because I've wanted to use the sequins from Pugly Pixel since I first saw them :)

My first black and white film!

I actually can't believe it's taken me this long to share these photos but I do tend to get over excited about new camera's and film so I guess its ok...

Whilst we did spend most of our week off at home, we spent the Monday and Tuesday in Liverpool. It was so great to spend a couple of days together without worrying about anything other than where we were going to eat (which we like to talk about anyway...) and enjoying a new city.

These photos were taken around Albert Dock.

I'm completely smitten with black and white film!

Golden Anniversary!

My Grandparents WeddingMy Grandparents in LondonNanna and Grandad

Today is my Grandparent's golden wedding anniversary so I wanted to share a couple of photos that my Nanna and I found whilst sorting out a project for my little sister's wedding. Aren't they quite the couple! I love these photos, I love my Nanna's wedding dress and I love them. I'm seeing them both tomorrow to celebrate with family and I can't wait!!

p.s. Some bloggers are participating in a blog silence today and I thought about taking part but this post is obviously date specific and I've been planning it all year however click here to find out more about who's taking part and how you can help.

I have no idea how this happened...

Photo27_23A

It looks like a double exposure - but it was taken with my superheadz yellow peace so that shouldn't be possible. You can just see Bolton Abbey underneath the swirls but I have no idea what the swirls actually are... this was the only photo on the film like it...

I love film!
