You can call me...

An author!
Woohoo!

There I am, I added the arrows so you didn't miss it.
(it's on Amazon so its official!)

{An excerpt from the book in the latest Gadchick Magazine, the book has reviews of all new apps.}

So what did I write?

I wrote a guide book for one of my favourite online magazines, Gadchick,
for Android phone photographers.

Even though I predominantly use my film cameras, I ALWAYS have my phone with me and I love using it for spur of the moment photos along side my film cameras or in situations where film isn't really practical. As well as tips for better android photography, I tested 30 different camera apps and included my thoughts on each which was actually a great process for me as I learnt to appreciate my little phone for so much more than its calling/texting abilities and to embrace digital photography as a different way to express myself.

You can now buy your own copy from Amazon for your Android or Kindle so if you have an Android phone please check it out, and if you do get it, let me know what you think!

Redscale bunting...

There wasn't as much bunting in Scarborough compared to Knaresborough but I still couldn't help taking photos of it when I saw it and this redscale XR film with my LC-A is currently my most favourite thing!

Photo24_21Photo23_20Photo05_2
I'll apologise now if I've been a bit scarce in the blogging community this week - I've been extremely distracted creating a new home for my blog (its bigger, better and quite frankly, awesome!) which I'm hoping to share soon... mainly because I might burst with excitement if I don't share it soon haha. Anyway, I hope all is well with you all - I'll try and catch up soon.

 Have a great weekend!

12 for 2012 - Camera 4

As part of my 'take more photos' goal for this year - I decided that I wanted to use more of the cameras that I haven't actually used before in my collection.

Yes, I might have missed a camera in April... we'll ignore that :) I can do two next month perhaps?
Also, it's ok because this camera (and its results) are exciting!!!

340 Land

I've actually had this camera - a polaroid automatic 340 land camera - for a while now (perhaps a year, maybe more) and I'm now feeling like I've wasted the time that I've had with it as I love it so much already!

I've really struggled with polaroids in the past and I've never been able to find that micarulous balance with the Impossible Project film that others seem to find so beautifully. But finally I've found a polaroid that works for me and it works incredibly well!!

fuji 3000 1
Apart from when I haven't checked that the battery is properly plugged in... oops. I was a little upset with this first picture but luckily, it was just the battery that was the problem and...

fuji 3000 2
Ta da! A photo is born!
{Please ignore our crazy long grass, annoyingly our landlord mowed it that afternoon after I'd taken this photo. I still love our garden though. And our washing line!}

fuji 3000 3

I'm so impressed with the focus on this camera - it has a rangefinder focus, which I've never used before but I loved. I also love the contrast that comes with the Fuji FB-3000B film, I was a little wary of the 3000 ISO but this film is blowing my mind! I've ordered some colour film too (I'm weak, I have a film problem) and I can't wait to see how those look when I use it now too.

fuji 3000 4

I even attempted a double exposure with this camera but I seriously underestimated how sunny it actually was at the weekend and it came out very overexposed, I am thrilled that it worked though and now I know what to do for next time...

A rather amazing portrait...

{A portrait of me by the amazingly talented and lovely Caitlin from Hue and Hum

Last month, my blog friend Caitlin (who I first blogged about here featuring her amazing art) from Hue and Hum posted about accepting portrait orders and I jumped at the chance to have one of me with one of my cameras...

And here is the result. I just adore it. I love the yellow camera, all the stripes, the cute shoes and my usual outfit of a cardigan and jeans, woohoo!!

See more of Caitlin's portraits here, she is one seriously talented lady!!!

p.s. you might notice the original portrait that Caitlin has that I have an earring, I edited it out as I don't have my ears pierced... sorry Caitlin :)

Calm before the storm...

CNV00008aCNV00004
Though really, its more excitement than a bad storm...

On Friday my little sister is getting married, so I'm at home helping her sort things out and pestering the dog with my cameras, haha.
(There will be Harry photos on Instagram, woo)

I'm so excited!!!

Already too excited...

After the excitement of Paris and Krakow over the last two years and even more excitement coming up this year with my lickle sisters wedding (eep) Thomas and I decided that rather than a city break abroad, this year we really wanted a relaxing week by the beach. So later this year we are going to Whitby for a week and staying in a little cottage with beams. I already can't wait to go and I have months to wait!

We've only been to Whitby the once and that was back in 2009 where I took photos for my first ever photoswap with my little holga (and also some digital photos for my dear friend Nicole too). I don't think I've ever shared them all here though, so I thought now was the perfect time!

Some of you may recognise a couple of the photos from my shop (you know, back in the day, haha) I was really pleased with how these turned out and I can't wait to go back with more than one camera to take photos. Hurray! It's nice having things to look forward too.

Have a great weekend!

We made a camera!

Introducing my YELLOW gakkenflex camera, made by myself and my friends over the weekend. (And I have photos taken with it too for tomorrow's post, which means it worked and I am excited!)

I'd seen photos taken with this camera by my fellow camera enthusiast friends Unai and Cesar and they both used it for their photoswap photos too (see here and here.) I was totally captivated by the idea that it was a camera that you built yourself from a kit and I knew that I had to have one and luckily I got one for my birthday from these lovely ladies (they spoil me).

So here are some photos of us putting it together for your amusement.

{the shutter, just 4 bits of plastic and 3 springs, so clever!}

Ta da!! And to finish off, some fun (kind of) TTV photos...

This camera was so fun to put together, especially as some of the instructions weren't translated correctly (right was left, left was right etc) so we had to guess a lot from the photos but I highly recommend it if you want to try it.

Also the yellow is amazing... I love it so much!

p.s. I'm totally rocking the sock bun and also I have new red boots which I love.

p.p.s. the shutter sounds amazing, especially as I know how it works now.

I'm so excited!!!!

Can you believe it's the 24th of August already?! I've had all month to put together a 'Packing for Paris' post and I completely failed to do it, haha, oh well. Honestly, I was enjoying the August Break too much... have you enjoyed it? I did snap this one picture of my hand luggage, there are 7 cameras and one massive pouch of film in there... (you can just you see them all and the fuji instax film, eep) Also that bag on top? My bargain find of the month, £2.50 in a charity shop, its beautiful.

Anyway, today is Wednesday!! Which means tomorrow is Thursday and we're going to Paris!!! I'm so excited, I can't stop using exclamation points or babbling and I can't really type or concentrate properly... I'm also a little nervous, but thats to be expected really.

We've a few things planned but not a lot and I think we're going to try and take it as easy as possible but honestly I can't wait to be taking photos all day :) happy happy.

I've got some posts scheduled from some amazing guest posters who have been to Paris, so I hope you enjoy those and I'll see you all in September!!

p.s. I'll miss you, we'll have the internet, so I'll try and tweet updates but I doubt I'll catch up on many blogs, you'll let me know if something exciting happens right...

It's nearly August already?!

Seriously... where has this year gone?
However, August is great because it means...

~ August Break!~
I loved taking part in Susannah's August Break last year and this year I'm using it as an excuse to share photos from the last two years that I haven't shared on here yet .. there were more than I expected, though I guess I shouldn't be too surprised, my Flickr does have over 1,000 photos on there now and I'd say most of them are film.

~ Paris! ~
Thats right, the last week of August, Thomas and I are going to Paris, for a week and I'm taking at least 7 cameras and lots of film. I can not wait already!!

I'll try and sneak in a what I'm packing post, like I did for Krakow... the outfits will be slightly different I feel and I have some amazing guest posters to keep my little blog company whilst we're away, woo!

See you in August, it's going to amazing, I can tell.
Have a great weekend!

Guest post at Down and Out Chic...

Photo12_12

I honestly still can't believe that Christina asked me to guest post for her - I've followed her blog for as long as I've blogged (so over two years) and her attitude towards blogging and her amazing blog has definitely made her a blog hero of mine...

Check out my post about my favourite film and diana mini combination here. Yeay!

Hurray It's Friday!

{More Harry Love Lomowall made on Lomography}

I'm so happy it's Friday because

I think blogging may have influenced me with dresses
it's only taken 2 years...)

~ I get to spend time with two of my bestest friends and their other halfs ~
~ I get to eat bbq and cake ~
~ and watch other people on a trampoline ~

Eep, I can't wait.

Happy weekend everyone!

p.s. Photos of Harry because I miss his little face and I love his little sticking out leg... is it weird to have a favourite leg on a pet? Probably...

It's their first visit up north in a while and I'm so excited about showing them everything - our house, our garden, the abbey, even our local supermarket haha.

Have a wonderful weekend!
We plan too :)

Kirkstall Abbey Polaroids!

Eeeeeee, we had the most amazing weekend ever!

Adele is amazing and pretty and lovely and adorable and so kind... gah, I love her and I am still so happy that she came to visit (especially after her terrible journey to get here!)

I have so much I want to share but first... polaroids. After chatting with Adele about the impossible film that we both tried, I decided to brave it and take the rest of mine with us on our walk around the abbey and they turned out well!!

Adele and I at Kirkstall Abbey

{we kind of look a bit like ghosts...} Kirkstall Abbey 2Kirkstall Abbey 1

I'm so excited about them, I think the last two may even be shop worthy! What do you think?

I'm so glad that I tried using these again... now I just have to resist buying the new ones!!

p.s. you can't tell but Adele is wearing a yellow skirt... just one of the reasons she is amazing.

The last of my first black and white roll...

I seriously adore this whole roll of film. In fact I can't think of any other time when I've been so happy with a roll of film. I've definitely been converted to black and white film in the diana mini... they just work so well together.

Photo14_14Photo18_18Photo22_22Photo19_19Photo26_26Photo25_25Photo30_30

I love the last photo. In fact I love them all, I can't actually believe just how excited I am about them.

I didn't add all of the roll here (though it was tempting but I didn't want to desaturate* my blog with so many photos) but it is on Flickr if you want to see them all together.

*haha, did you see what I did there...

Anyway, its the weekend, hurray and the sun is actually shining here in Leeds, I really hope it lasts! I might even wear a dress tomorrow...

Happy weekend!!

Oh my...

Neon Test 2

How absolutely beautiful is this photo by Jon Campolo on Flickr!

I've been looking through the Impossible Project PX680 Flickr group for the beta testing of the film, trying not to get too excited about the new film (and failing...) and this photo just completely blew me away.

I really hope that this film is better than the first possible project film that I tried... my photos are almost completely faded now and I still feel a bit let down by that when I think about how much I paid for them.

p.s. I'm completely addicted to Flickr... so many beautiful photos!

p.p.s. Laura asked if it was available yet but I think it the beta stock has sold out. Oh and it is for 600 cameras (which I have, woo). I probably should have mentioned that originally...
