So here I am.

I probably should do a post right..? Though I don't really know what to write today, I just know I want to be here, so here I am and here are some photos. I've tried writing this post a number of times but it's all been a bit too much and in the end I picked some of my recent favourite photos and went with those instead... sometimes I worry that I'm hiding behind my photos but they always seem to say so much more than I could ever write, so here I am. I think I've been here the whole time. Perhaps you can read them. Perhaps you can even hear me and what I'm trying to say. I like the idea that maybe you see more of me than I ever do through them.

Calm before the storm...

CNV00008aCNV00004
Though really, its more excitement than a bad storm...

On Friday my little sister is getting married, so I'm at home helping her sort things out and pestering the dog with my cameras, haha.
(There will be Harry photos on Instagram, woo)

I'm so excited!!!

I mentioned before that I was just trying to finish a film when I went to take these photos but now that I'm looking at them, I'm really glad I took so many photos of the daffodils, they never last long enough.

Have a great weekend!

p.s. My sister is getting married this time next week!!! I.am.excited!!!!!

Out of focus...

CNV00016CNV00013
CNV00012aCNV00016a

{Sometimes I get over excited about a photos potential and forget to let my Yashica Samurai focus properly, oops.}

Over the weekend I've been reading through the 'Thing's I'm afraid to tell you posts' and I'm feeling conflicted about it - in many ways, I'm so glad that people are being honest but at the same time I'm amazed that people really believe that other bloggers lifes are that perfect...

I don't share my feelings often here, but it's not because I'm afraid, or worried that you'll judge me - I already judge myself too harshly and if I don't share something here, its usually because I'm hiding it from myself rather than a larger audience. I know that I am my own worst enemy.

My photos today are technically bad - they are out of focus, you can't make out what you are looking at and at first I was disappointed with them. But after looking at them again, I think that they are beautiful, they remind me to slow down, appreciate the moment, stop being so hard on myself to take the perfect photo and to just wait a few more seconds to let myself enjoy it, let the camera and light do its thing and then, when I'm ready, take the photo.

I think we all need this reminder sometimes - perfection, happiness, wealth and beauty are all relative - what works for me won't work for you - and thats how blogging is too - read a blog because you love it but know (and remember) that behind every amazing photo there is always one (maybe more) that is out of focus too.

I orginally started taking these photos to use up the end of a film, but once I started taking them I kept noticing more and more things. We used to live in one of the flats in the first photo, so I'm glad I took that photo, I always liked it, it was just what we needed at the time.

Have a great weekend!

Around the Barn...

CNV00014aPhoto03_1APhoto04_2CNV00015a
I kind of wish I'd taken more photos of the barn with my film cameras, but I'm glad that I got a few - especially the one of the back garden area and also the barn from a distance. It really was a great destination!

Pink and blue...

After all the rain and dullness over the past two weeks (I guess the weather didn't get my message about sunshine...) these photos make me so incredibly happy.

I hope they've made your day a bit happier too!

Have a great weekend.

p.s. Thomas and I have a guest to entertain this weekend, we're taking her to the beach.
It will more than likely rain but at least she's getting a real English beach experience haha.

St Patrick's Chapel, Heysham

Hello! Sorry for the blog silence, I've been sick.
I'm feeling much better now though and I finally developed my elusive film from February over the weekend too
so I finally have some colour photos to share, hurray!
(I'm not thrilled with the scans though, I'm going to take the negs to my usual place,
so these may be replaced when I do that...)

I'm so glad these photos turned out well, they are of St Patrick's Chapel, Heysham - a ruined building which stands on the coastline of Heysham, next to the newer St Peter's Church. It is a Grade I listed building and a Scheduled Ancient Monument believed to be dated from the 8th or 9th Century.

Just beneath the chapel was a peaceful little cove where we sat for a while taking it all in, I loved the colours of the shells and the sound of the waves.
