Around the Barn...

I kind of wish I'd taken more photos of the barn with my film cameras, but I'm glad that I got a few - especially the one of the back garden area and also the barn from a distance. It really was a great destination!

This weekend is my lickle sisters hen party... I've been organising it for a while now and I am very excited. As well as partying, I also get to see this little pup (as well as my sister and family I guess... haha) and I can't wait to squeeze his little face!

p.s.s. On another note, I finally 'get' Ryan Gosling, um, yummy! Seeing him in Crazy, Stupid, Love may have been a deciding factor, how cute is he with Emma Stone.

Spinning on the beach!

After all the excitement of the family beach video that I made during Mum's birthday weekend in Lancashire, I completely forgot about this roll of film and the videos I got from it at the beginning of February.

 You can just see the snow on the beach whilst I'm spinning around
(like you do on the beach).

No idea who the boys below are though and we actually didn't see them after that either... weird. It's ok though because I'm populating my photos!


I always like to take two (or more, haha) different cameras with me to new places as they capture things so differently, the Yashica Samurai can zoom so I could capture the birds in the distance as well as the delicate flowers, whilst the Diana Mini seems more suited to tones, light and atmosphere than details.

 I do think they are both important to capture somewhere though - and also represent you and how you see things and sometimes one camera or film isn't really enough to do that...

I'm so relieved that it is Friday, this week has been busy, a bit stressful and I've sulked about things beyond my control a fair bit... but as my good friends have told me - you can only worry about the things you can change... so this evening I'm going to go home, spend the evening with my love and have a nice bottle of wine and hopefully that will be a good start to a worry free weekend.

Lomokino love...

I'm completely in love with my Lomokino and the little home movies you can make with it - In fact my only sadness about the video from Mum's birthday weekend is that I didn't shoot more so it could have been longer. 

The beginning of the video is shot in Morecambe and the rest is in a little village called Heysham just along the coast from Morecambe which I loved. Also, I like to make people wave in videos it seems, haha.

This past weekend I spent with my parents and I didn't really take any photos - sometimes that happens, I just want to remember it rather than capture it and it was a great weekend to remember most definitely.

Grasmere Part 3

I love these photos, especially the last photo! I wouldn't normally take a photo like it but the colour of the stones against the lines of the roof just sang to me and I didn't even think, I just shot it... perhaps I did learn something from Susannah's Photo Meditations, haha.

Grasmere Part 1

Of all the places that we visited over Mum's birthday weekend, Grasmere was my favourite. It was quaint and lovely, exactly what you would expect from the Lake District, with gorgeous little cottages, stone walls and the most amazing gingerbread I've ever eaten.
(Oh how I looove gingerbread)



I actually didn't realise that Grasmere was also the home of William Wordsworth until we got to the church and walked around to see the grave...which is funny as the main reason that the village is so popular is because of him, but honestly I think it would be just as popular anyway, it is such a delightful little place.



Grasmere is also home to a Herdy shop, which I personally found more exciting - I love that little sheep face - though the photo isn't that great, but I don't care. I kind of wish I'd bought some of these now... and some mugs, maybe a tea towel... I want it all!

Lake Windermere Part 2

This post could really be named 'houses on the lake...' because really, thats mostly what I took photos of. I do love a great looking houses and I especially love the little boat houses along the water too.

Apparently, many industrialists in the 1800's chose to build grand mansions and houses around Lake Windermere and many more amazing houses have been built since too, which has resulted in the area having some of the most expensive houses in the country...



The last house, Belle Isle Roundhouse, is my favourite - it was on a private island in the middle of the lake for one, and its a circular house, how awesome is that?! I bet it looks stunning inside. The front of the house has amazing pillars inspired by Italian architecture, though you can't see them too well here. Imagine having a little island as your back garden...

Lake Windermere Part 1

One of the (many) perfect things about the Barn that we got for Mum's surprise weekend, was that it was a perfect distance from the Lake District. My parents spent a week in the Lakes a couple of years ago and we knew that they both loved it and wanted to take us there, so the first lake that we visited was Lake Windermere.

Lake Windermere is England largest lake at 10.5 miles long and it felt huge! It wasn't very wide but it just seemed to go on and on, especially as we drove along it - I actually thought it was a different lake at one point but no - still the same huge lake.



We decided to go on one of the tourist boats heading towards the south of the Lake and Harry loved absolutely loved it.

As well as the Lakes, the area is famous for its hills (or Fells) that surround the lakes and these were stunning in the distance and provided the perfect backdrop to the slightly choppy waters.



 I can definitely understand now why the Lake District is such a popular holiday destination, you definitely get the feeling that you haven't seen everything when you go there... I'm looking forward to perhaps going back one day to explore more.

We love the beach video #2

It's no secret here that Wells-Next-The-Sea is my favourite beach, I must have taken most of my cameras there at some point - and last weekend was the turn of my new little Lomokino. After last years little scare, I'm so so glad that it worked and I finally got some footage of Harry!


 Family trips to the beach - even in the rain (which you can't really see) are my favourite!!

Today marks the beginning of my Mum's second birthday weekend celebration and I can't wait to make more videos (and memories) of my family this weekend, hurray!!

Along the canal with my Sardina...

Our apartment was just a short walk away from the St Martin Canal in Paris... the area was perfect - exciting, bustling and it offered a different side of the city away from the tourism and the distractions of the centre.

On the Sunday morning we decided to walk along the canal and I'm so glad we did - there was so much happening around it in comparison to the canal here in Leeds... people playing ping pong, working out, walking their dogs... It was active yet strangely relaxing at the same time.



Although I had been to Paris before when I was 14, this trip was completely different and although I knew I would love our visit, I didn't expect to love Paris as much as I did... especially the area around the apartment. I'm so glad I took so many photos because everytime I start to feel like I'm forgetting what it felt like to be there, I just look at them (which is fairly often) and I remember so much more.
