This past weekend...

Was relaxing, hurray! 

I finally got my hair cut short, bought some more wool and consequently finished my first ever set of crochet granny squares (I'm hooked, ha), I even started connecting them together too, its awesome.

I also finally found clothing with birds on (it's a cute skirt and it was in a charity shop!) and I took my new double dip plastic camera by James Butler out for a spin and met a new cat friend in the process.

Hurray for relaxing weekends!

I probably should do a post right..? Though I don't really know what to write today, I just know I want to be here, so here I am and here are some photos. I've tried writing this post a number of times but it's all been a bit too much and in the end I picked some of my recent favourite photos and went with those instead... sometimes I worry that I'm hiding behind my photos but they always seem to say so much more than I could ever write, so here I am. I think I've been here the whole time. Perhaps you can read them. Perhaps you can even hear me and what I'm trying to say. I like the idea that maybe you see more of me than I ever do through them.

Yellow...

It's no secret that I loooove yellow. I really do.

Over the past couple of days as part of the Shutter Sisters One Word Color Month, the colour in focus has been yellow and I've loved looking through the Flickr group at all the photos.

So I decided to gather together all my favourite yellow photos that I've taken here too, hurray!

This post is also inspired by Emily W Photography who did a gorgeous post on white photos, I think I should gather photos together like this more often!

Enjoying Instagram...

 

I wasn't planning on sharing my Instagram photos on here but a mixture of having only black and white diana mini photos to share (which gets a bit dull so many posts in a row...), an undeveloped film and dull rain has put a halt to my film photography adventures at the moment. I really hope the weather picks up soon though my hearts starting to ache for it a little bit.... 

I am enjoying Instagram whilst I'm waiting for the weather to improve though and I'm really enjoying looking at other peoples photos too, I can see what all the fuss was about.

There's no way I could stop blogging, I don't want to, but sometimes life gets hectic and this seems like a happy and fun compromise... (and I'll prob end up writing things anyway...)

...but Thomas and I have a few days off work after ATP and it caused an unplanned but probably much needed blog break...

Coraline in 3D

Firstly I should point out that since seeing Monsters Vs Aliens I think I may have caught the 3D bug. Yeay! Secondly, Coraline was alot darker than I expected it to be... Alot darker.

However once I got past that lingering eerieness I really enjoyed the film. I loved the colours, the music and the animation. The story was clever and simple with interesting and amusing characters that really captured the imagination. Coraline herself was likeable, fun and spunky and her interaction with her world around her was fascinating.

I love stories that have hidden worlds (Narnia, The secret garden etc.) and the 'other' world in Coraline did not dissapoint, especially as it descended into darkness. Of course my favourite part of the film was the Scottie dogs especially in their angel outfits, they still make me smile now.

I will admit that I have tried reading the book, yet I found the writing to be quite simple (it is for children after all) however it it definately on the list of books that I would read to my children one day!

Aliens Vs Monsters 3D (Movie)

First I will admit that I have what my boyfriend terms as 'a lowbrow sense of humour' - though I don't think thats entirely accurate... just because I find some silly things really really funny, doesn't mean I'm lowbrow... Anyway, due to my sense of humour I found Aliens Vs Monsters extremely funny and really good fun. I laughed so hard I was crying at parts. It was Finding Nemo all over again - I was the only person laughing and the cinema was full of kids - the shame!

The cast of this film was ridiculous - Reese Witherspoon, Hugh Laurie (I love him!), Seth Rogan, Keifer Sutherland - to name a few... and each one was brilliant at portraying likeable and funny characters. Stephen Colbert was also a treat as the President - he had the best scene of the film!

Aliens Vs Monsters was also the first film that I saw in 3D and it was amazing! It turned a good, funny film into a great, funny film. I looked a bit silly with the 3D glasses over the top of my normal glasses, but it was worth it, I even flinched when a ball came flying towards me. Overall the film was great - despite the simple plot it was funny, endearing and very enjoyable - I giggled all the way home!

Wells - Saltmarsh Coast Gallery

Whilst we were at Wells my boyfriend dragged me into the Saltmarsh Coast Gallery to buy some prints. His parents and his Grandmother already owned prints of the beach huts and he really wanted some too.

The gallery hosts photos by Gareth Hacon and Jon Gibbs which are mounted and framed within the shop. I'll admit, it took us a while to settle on two that we liked... however we now have two more prints (to go with our London ones) that are absolutely beautiful.

All I need now is that gallery wall to put them on...

Eeeee!

I just remembered that I meant to post about this yesterday and I totally forgot.

Amy Adams and Lee Pace are in a film. Together. Oh. My!! I love Amy Adams - I love Lee Pace... surely this is the match made in film heaven?

I am possily too excited about this - however I am going to go out of my way to see Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day!

Fairy wings!

I feel like I'm not being creative enough - my blog is as creative as I'm getting at the moment and although I'm loving the expression through words, I would really love to have the time to make more things!



I made some fairy wings at the weekend for a fancy dress party - does that count?

Sluggish

Its been a bit of a slow day today and I really had no idea what I could post about. Then I found this : A duck who thinks she is a dog. Brilliant!

Its totally made my day - if I had the choice I would want to be a dog as well.

Amused

Walking down the muddy tractor path between two fields that is my walk to work in the morning I could hear some faint rustling behind me on the right hand side. Usually I’m quite aware of the sounds around me when I’m walking through the countryside, having spent the majority of my childhood in Norfolk. Distracted by the noise, I kept turning to have a look, thinking it was someone walking behind me, until I heard the sound immediately above my head.

Quickly I looked up and there sitting on the tree branch that towered over my head was a little grey squirrel. I wasn’t really surprised to see it there; we used to see squirrels in the graveyard across from our old flat all the time. In fact I used to watch the neighbouring cats try to catch them for hours, normally when I should have been doing some work. The weirdest noise I’ve ever heard is a squirrel screaming at a cat.

After smiling to myself about seeing the squirrel I kept walking. As I kept going I could here the rustling in the trees following me down the path and as I got towards the main road, I turned to see where the squirrel was. Just as I made eye contact with it, it darted quickly behind a tree… then popped its head around a second later to look at me.

Seeing the squirrel try to hide from me was such a funny sight that I laughed at the thought that it would make a terrible spy: it was noisy, I had heard it all the way down the path; it was obvious and it didn’t blend into the trees at all. Turning away back towards the road, I saw the squirrel scamper off, almost embarrassed out of the corner of my eye and I chuckled the rest of my journey into work...

Disgruntled

Normally I would say that I am a chatty and friendly person, however sometimes I just do not have the time for people, especially people who talk to me either waiting for the bus, on the bus or walking from the bus to work.

Why talk to a stranger?! Granted, we see each other every week day and, yes, I do recognise your face... but just because we live in the same area, get the same bus and work on the same road, it doesn't mean I want to talk to you or hear your life story! Nor do I want to tell you my life story either... I don't know you, why should I tell you where I work?

The first person who started talking to me on the old 33 was fine - she was heavily pregnant and seemed to want to tell me everything: I found out how many brothers she had, heard all about her husband and their families and all the details about the impending baby. It amazed me how much information she eagerly volunteered about herself... Luckily she went on maternity leave and I got to return to my Ipod.

I managed to avoid talking to the people at my bus stop for 7 months, until last week... A lady passed out on the bus and landed pretty much on my feet - I had to ring for the ambulance and one of the girls who gets on at my stop was calming her down. So, obviously, she now has to talk to me... and I was doing so well...

Perhaps if I didn't get the bus so soon after waking up or after a long day at work I would be more amicable towards people, however early mornings + (increasingly) late buses does not equal to me being in pleasant, chatty and patient mood. I must be good at hiding my annoyance/impatience on buses though as these people always seem to find me!
