Harrogate in the sunshine...

Photo14_10APhoto20_16APhoto26_22A Photo16_12APhoto25_21APhoto11_7A

Even though these were taken last month, the sun is shining today in Yorkshire, so I thought I would share the sunshine further. Compared to Knaresborough the Jubilee celebrations in Harrogate were quite subtle, I did have fun trying to spot them and take photos of them though.

Valley Gardens, Harrogate

Valley Gardens is a English Heritage Grade II Listedpark and garden area in Harrogate and absolutely beautiful.

We were very lucky in that we had a lovely day weather wise and the park looked glorious in the sunshine! I particularly loved the shadows that the pavillion area created along the floor.

The park also had a play area with miniture golf, pitch and putt and even frisbee golf, which we had a go at... we were both equally poor but it was so fun!

Harrogate Typography

Looking through the photos that I took in Harrogate on our week off, I noticed a theme in my photos... type! I don't usually intend to take certain types of photos, I just go somewhere and get a feel for it and capture what I spot, but part of me must have been searching for words whilst we were there this time.

These were taken with Kodak Portra NC 160 film which I've been pretty excited about using in my LC-A and I'm really pleased with the results, I especially love the tones of the colours.

Have a great weekend!!

Polaroids from last week...

fuji 3000 5fuji 3000 6fuji 3000 7fuji 3000 8

Our week off was a week of two halves. The first couple of days we chilled out and relaxed (I started and completed Stacking, hehe, it is so fun!) and the last few days we went exploring. On Wednesday we hopped on the train and went to Knaresborough and Harrogate (they're on the same train line) and I took my polaroid land camera too.

I've struggled a little with the development time with this film - I think mainly due to the colder weather here in England, the first two are a little underexposed and then getting this film to scan well is hard, you'll have to trust me that they look better in person lol.

The first three are from Knaresborough, easily the prettiest place in England (I think anyway) and the last photo was taken in a stunning park that we found in Harrogate - I was delighted when the sun came out and formed the shadows across the floor.

I'm a little apprehensive about using the colour film with this camera as I know it takes a lot longer to develop and like all films, this film is precious but I also can't wait to see the results too especially as these black and white results are so pretty, even though they aren't perfect.

p.s. Susannah shared The Conversation last week and I've watched 5 already in a day, have you seen it?

Conflicted and overexposed...

I'm having a love/hate relationship with the second half of photos from my last roll of ilford xp2.

On the one hand I am so disappointed with myself for not checking one of the fundamental switches on my diana mini (N not B, N not B) which means they are blurry and so overexposed... and the gardens at Harlow Carr were so pretty I was looking forward to sharing some lovely photos.

Yet on the other, I like the tones of the overexposure and the extreme grainyness of these photos - its almost like they've been painted with light...

What do you think? I'm completely torn over them...

TGI Friday...

Doric Column Folly
{Doric Columns at Harlow Carr Gardens, Harrogate}

Can you believe I carried my fuji instax wide around with me for 4 hours last weekend and this was the only photo I took? I do love it though, the columns were hidden away and such a surprise when we found them that I couldn't resist taking a photo.

I'm so glad its Friday, this week has been exhausting for some reason and I'm looking forward to a lazy weekend.

Have a good weekend!
