Hello 2010!

Happy New Year!!

I still can't believe that the holidays are over but I am definitely feeling refreshed, over excited and happy that its time to make a fresh start with things!

How was everyone's holidays? Mine was wonderful - I saw all my family and friends and I had sooo much sleep. However, I had no signal on my phone in Norfolk (so no twitter or random texts ) and for some reason our laptop wouldn't connect to anyones wifi - so I had no internet either - it was surprisingly refreshing and now I am so excited about being back.

(I missed you!)

Did I mention that I got so much sleep...? Ohhh it was wonderful!

I have so much to do now though (catch up on over a weeks worth of blogs, sort out my shop, send lots of parcels, email people...) so please bare with me :)

I'm so excited to be back!! Happy 2010 everyone!

p.s. A big hello to all my latest followers, I'm still overwhelmed by how lovely you all are and I really am so happy you're here - sorry I've been so organised with linking to everyone.

p.s.s. Farah is having a lovely giveaway to celebrate her 200th post! I love her blog so pop over and say Hi :)

Gem Award Questions and Answers!

Yeay! So here are the questions and answers from last weeks Gem Award from Cassie (finally!)

Sara asked me:

How much do you like chocolate?
I loooovee chocolate so so much! Most people who know me don't ask what I'm having for dessert or what type of cake I would prefer - if there is a chocolate choice then I am having it! My love for chocolate is only limited to milk chocolate though (preferably Cadbury's please) - I really don't like white or dark chocolate.

and what is your favourite word?
My favourite word is lovely. You've probably seen me using it alot on here and it got to the point of where every comment I wrote had it in there somewhere - I had to stop myself from writing it. I love the sound of it and I love the meaning of it!

Cassie asked me:

Which beach in the UK is your favourite and why?
I would have to say Wells-Next-The-Sea (see numerous posts) Not only do I have fond memories of there as a child (mainly the sweet shop and the park) but I have great memories of there as an adult as well (mainly the sweet shop and the park!) and Harry loves it too, it was the first beach we took him on and he had far too much fun!

Saskia asked me:

What would your perfect day in London be?
Now this is quite hard for me to answer - I have two views of London - one as a tourist and one as a resident. Living there we used to love going to the Holloway Market on a Saturday (look for the bag stall! I brought so many during the year we were there.) Then heading to Wood Green (the nearest Cineworld) to go watch a film before going to the best Italian restaurant in Finsbury Park for dinner. I sometimes really miss our little studio so much.

My perfect day as a tourist though would involve breakfast, lunch and dinner at amazing restaurants (there are so many to choose from), a trip to Harrods just to look around and get some macaroons, a walk along the Thames, a look around the Tate Modern and a few hours in Covent Garden - I adore Covent Garden! Preferably it would be at christmas where the lights look amazing and the atmosphere is like nowhere else in the world. I miss London!!

and where would your dream place to live be?
By the beach in a little cottage with a garden and some dogs.
(Short and sweet)

Molly asked me:

What is the typical day in the life of Rhianne?
I apologise in advance Molly as my typical day is really quite dull. I always oversleep, I am so rubbish at getting up, then I get ready for work and get the bus to work (fun). I then spend most of my day sat at a desk either doing work or reading/writing blogs. I get the bus home and finally get to see Boyfriend (the highlight of my day!) we then make dinner together and catch up on TV or play on the Xbox or watch a movie. Weekdays are so monotenous aren't they? We have more fun at the weekends I promise!

Diana asked me:

Why did you get started in photography and shooting film?
I have always loved film photography. The first camera I ever used as a child was a 35mm camera - the first camera I loved was a 35mm camera. I have never had a digital camera that I have loved. I got a small Kodak one for university which I dropped in my second year and never got round to replacing and even now I borrow my Boyfriend's or use my phone (which admittedly does have a good camera) if I need to take a photo.

For some reason digital never took off for me - it was too easy to take loads of pictures of nothing - too easy to put them on my computer and forget about them. I never held them in my hands after taking them, I never waited excitedly for them to develop and I felt the urge to pose, check and retake a digital photo when I wasn't happy with it ruined the spontaneity of photography, especially when out with friends or visiting somewhere new.

Falling back into using 35mm film was an accident really... even though I knew I wanted to do something different, something just for me, I didn't plan on it being photography and I think if I hadn't started this blog then I never would have brought my holga camera (or any of the others) Taking photographs with film felt a bit like coming home, almost like the years I spent doing painting and drawing at college or design at University were mearly a distraction as I fumbled through life trying to find what I loved doing the most.

I hope that these you enjoyed these answers and that they made sense! I'm going to pass this award onto Marisa (who tagged me with a music tag which I haven't done yet, sorry!), her bestie and always lovely Micaela and Callie from The Magical Bean*! You can either choose to have your own Q&A post ladies or post pictures of things that you love.

*Callie is also having an amazing gingerbread man ornament giveaway on her blog - she made them herself and I love them! You should definitely head over and enter!

p.s. Hello to my amazing newest followers! I have been a bit slack with this (sorry!) so here goes! Tags and Awards!

{Are these the same thing? Probably... Either way I love getting them and sharing the love!}

First up I have been awarded the Fabulous Sugar Doll Blogger Award (what a great name) from Rebecca at Daydreams in Lace - a fellow UK blogger - Thanks Rebecca! Check out her lovely blog. I have to pass it on and tell you ten things about myself

I have also been tagged by Sanchez from The Inky Finger Files to list 7 things about myself. As well as being the inspiration behind my Who I am... post, Sanchez also has a collection of other bloggers Who I am posts in her sidebar - you should definitely check them out too!

So here are the 10 facts about me:
  1. I used to bite my nails really badly but someone recommended OPI Nail Envy to me and I have had long nails for 3 years now - I'm proud of this!
  2. I love wearing socks - even in the summer - I like having warm feet.
  3. I hardly ever wear skirts.
  4. I used to wish I wore them more but I like my jeans too much.
  5. I'm allergic to most fish.
  6. I am addicted to risotto at the moment - I eat it everywhere.
  7. I love catching up with Twitter in the morning (I'm so sad!)
  8. I secretly fancy Alexander Skarsgård (Eric from True Blood) he's not even really my type, but oh my, he is yummy (and I just found out he went to Uni in Leeds?!)
  9. I like being busy and having alot to do.
  10. I can be quite bossy.

So there we go, I would have done 17 facts but I always feel like I'm repeating myself or I'm running out of interesting things to say... so 10 it is....

and I'm going to pass the award onto these fabulous bloggers!

P.S. Hello to my latest followers: Thegirlcalledbo, Hello Sweet World, O'Reilly Ink and Rachael - Sorry I haven't looked at your blogs yet, I will soon I promise (in fact that goes to everyone who follows me and has commented recently - I'm a bit behind, sorry!)

Giveaway winner...

Part of me hates when the giveaway winner is decided - I like the thought that anyone could win it... and I always feel bad when they're over - but don't worry, I think this just means I should do more giveaways so that there are more chances to win... don't you?

Anyway - the winner of the O'Reilly giveway is... Rose Red - Well done!

Thank you to everyone who entered the O'Reilly print giveaway
and a big thank you to Maggy for agreeing to help me celebrate - definitely have another look around her shop if you have the chance - her prints really are amazing!

p.s Hello to my latest followers - Spardha, Onic (who has a great new blog!) Ana, Gemma Louise, Catherine, Beka2004, Magara, Make do Mum, Spanky*, Melissa and Adeline - I love having you all here :)

Things I've learnt from blogs this week... (TGI Friday!)

We got a pumpkin, yeay but still no cake... oops!!
We named him Humprey... I'm not sure why but I like it, he's happy.

This week has been a hard one for me, I haven't really been able to shake off that 'meh' feeling since Wednesday and thinking of blog posts has been tough. I've never struggled before with posts so I don't like it one little bit! I think I am worrying about too many things at once and my brain has decided to empty itself rather than process it all...
  1. I love the cameras. Love love love.
  2. I seriously want a giant cardboard camera
  3. I love this idea - I want one
  4. I will never get bored of dogs in costumes (more here)
Least there were lots of pretty things to distract me this week and I will be seeing Harry later - yeay!! I hope you all have lovely lovely weekends and a fun halloween!

p.s. Hello to my latest followers Carol, Planet Luminaire, Artichoke Zine, Cinabar, Lotzaads, M_Sparke and Cecistupperware - I love having you here. Also a quick hi to the people following me on bloglovin, yeay!

Who I am...

Inspired by these two lovely ladies: Sara and Sanchez
(please check out their posts - they really are beautiful)

I am 24 but sometimes I feel an awful lot older.
I still get asked for ID though which annoys me.

I am a daughter and a big sister...
no matter how far away I live from my family.

I am in love...
I would not be who I am without him.

I am technically an Interior Designer
but I haven't designed anything properly in over a year
I try not to think about it...

I am easily excited and short
I like both of these things about me.

I am impatient.
I want to travel, have a garden and get a kitten now.

I am not sure what I want to do in the future.
I am looking forward to it though.

I am happy.
Even when I am sad.

p.s. Also, I am overwhelmed by the amount of people reading my little blog - Hi to Judy, Janis, Christie, Buhdoop, Buzzybee68, Kimberly, Eadaoin and B is for Brown who mysteriously turned up over night!
(those without links if you have a blog then let me know)

p.p.s Yup the picture is of me sinking in the sand :)

Things I've learnt from blogs this week...

Woo, its Friday! This week has been wonderful, amazing and hectic all in one go! A huge thank you to everyone who has joined the photo swap – over 40 people so far, that’s about 30 more than I expected and thank you to everyone who has linked to it on their blogs.

I got some great news yesterday which I am so excited about but can’t share with you just yet and I have fantastic things planned for next week and towards the end of the month – are you as excited as I am yet? Hehe!

Before my usual links I wanted to show you this. I saw the link for it on a Cup of Jo last week and I could not believe it when I saw the guy on the left!
I know him!
His name is Josh, he went to the same college as me and moved to London about the same time that we did to start a career as a musician – we even saw him a couple of times (and he said hello) What are the chances that out of a thousand portraits from London the first one I see would be someone I know… and I don’t even know that many people in London! Crazy!

Anyway… I hope that you all have a wonderful weekends! We are finally going to see Up! and I am beyond excited about it!! See you Monday!
  1. I want a polaroid wall of puppies! Especially ones in ties!
  2. More key love... I can't get enough of them at the moment.
  3. Some amazing Halloween cupcakes - I love the fingers!
  4. and finally more yellow love... I just can't help myself...

p.s. Hello to my latest followers - Cassie, Dream Sequins, Ruth (who has a giveaway at the moment) Renee, Manju, Becky, Jana, Rêverie, Melanie, SCH, Sophie, Maddy and Jenny (who is new to blogger and also love cameras...)

p.p.s. Check out Saskia's first giveaway - I would comment but I already have Dr Feelgood (I love) and English Tea... as they are two of my favourites as well! You definitely don't want to miss it!

Just to say...

So I'm checking blogger on my phone whilst we were at a gig last night, trying not to be too obvious so that Boyfriend doesn't give me any dirty looks (I'm terrible, I know, sorry Boyfriend, I love you) and I see 100 followers!!

Being sly goes totally out of the window, I grab his arm, thrust my phone in his face and squeal 'oh my gosh! 100 followers!!' and Boyfriend in all his excitement says.... "didn't you only celebrate 50 like a week ago?"

Technically Boyfriend it was just over a month, so there! And yes I am as surprised as you are...

Anyway, thank you so much for following and reading my blog, I love having you all here and reading your lovely comments - I really wish that I had been much more prepared and had another giveaway to offer you as a massive thank you but I got so excited by the photo swap I didn't even think about it... I shall think of something*

So... a big hello to my latest followers: Check out all their great blogs!

Lavelle (the cutest blog!), AlphaButtonpusher, Erika, Kora Bruce (do you have a blog?), Anna, Milly, Courtney, Heather, Carly, Neonemulsion (best name ever!), Or-so-I-feel, Katrina and Jill

*Incidently if any one reading this is thinking they want to do a giveaway on my blog (how convient would that be?!) Drop me an email :)

Things I've learnt from blogs this week...

I'm so glad it's Friday - I still feel disorientated from being ill at the beginning of the week but at least I had a chance to properly catch up on my reader and organise all the blogs I read (I hit the limit of blogs you can follow on Blogger - how crazy is that?!) We're ordering pizza tonight and having a cosy night in (with blankets of course) I can not wait!!
  1. Autumn means yellow and more yellow! (I love all of Abby's Autumn Colours Week in fact - check it out!)
  2. Oh and some yellow tights, yeay
  3. It's a week for colour! How amazing is this cake...
  4. I adore this jewelry - the pegs are my favourite!

I love Wales: Rhosneigr

These panorama and holga photos are from our first evening in Wales - wasn't it a great start to the holiday? Just walking along the beautiful beach watching the sunset I felt all our worries and stresses blow away in the breeze...

I think it's as close to perfect as you could ever get...

Also the driver of the tractor gave me a smile and a wave which made my evening!

p.s. Hi to my newest followers xxxJackie, Courtney Hope, Helen, Cassandra Marie and OceanDreams - so excited to have you here :)

Back from holiday...

Hello! So I'm back to the real world and mildly stressed out by Leeds buses already... we had such an amazing 10 days though, I almost wish that it wasn't over. I did enjoy sleeping in our bed last night and using our shower this morning however...

We haven't had time to sort through all the photos from the week yet (we took 3 camera's in the end) but I will start going through them straight away - I can't wait to share them with you :)
But, first a massive thank you to my guest bloggers - Paulina, Clara, Wendy, Chelsea, Fallon and Alissa - weren't their posts just amazing!! I could access my email occasionally on my phone in Wales (the O2 signal there is not great) and it was wonderful seeing all the comments that everyone left in response.

Also the biggest thank you to Simon (mentioned here) my sister's boyfriend who rescued the week by making sure that they all got posted. I have no idea what happened but on Sunday, half an hour before we had to leave to catch the train Blogger decided that it didn't want to schedule my posts so he made sure each one was posted on the correct day (phew).

Another thank you to the lovely Nicole at My Teacups in Peony who featured our love story and my parent's love story as part of her It's a love story project. If you haven't seen this project then pop over and have a look - its actually perfect!!

and finally a big hello to all my new followers - Lille Diane, Vania, Lauzc87, Aquaheart, Shokoofeh, **Nicole**, Kirsty, Pixel Wild Child, Kim Bohstedt, Mina (check out this blog, I love!), Lathaj01 and Britt_Martin16 - If anyone has a blog I haven't linked to please let me know! My reader is currently well over 1000+ but I will try and get a chance to read everyone's blog as soon as I can!

What a weekend...

This weekend was lovely and weird at the same time, leaving me slightly confused and disorientated:
  • Lovely because I was in London, one of my favourite places ever.
  • Weird because I was really very happy to leave.
  • Lovely because I got to catch up with some old friends...
  • Weird because I felt so different from the last time I saw them - was it me or them?
  • Lovely because I got to wander around Oxford Street, Harrods and Covent Garden :)
  • Weird because I hardly took any photos and I missed my holga!
  • Lovely because I saw one of my old housemates
  • Weird that she was guiding me around London despite the fact I lived there for a year (weird and annoying... I should probably add)
  • Lovely because I got some macaroons
  • and lovely because I took them all the way home to share with Boyfriend who was eagerly awaiting my return... (and the macaroons after I talked about them so much!)
  • and even more lovely because he made me go for a walk along the canal with him despite the fact I was complaining about being tired... I'm so glad he did now!

Luckily lovely won out in the end (mainly because of Boyfriend) but the weirdness still lingers - causing me to question things I was pretty sure on before I left.... argh!

p.s. Hi to my latest followers Kate and Oli, Chris and the wonderful Megan :)

A long weekend in Norfolk: Norwich

I can't believe the bank holiday weekend is over already! We had such a great time - the weather was gorgeous and I managed to take two rolls of photos with Helga. I just need to get them developed now, I can't wait to see them.

Here are some of the digital photos from around Norwich. Even though I lived near there for over 10 years it was so much fun taking someone who had never been there before to all the beautiful places and getting to play tourist for a bit!

Hello to all my new followers from over the weekend: Kathleen, Jennette, Rhianna, Queen of Nostalgia, It's Me Tori, Lindsay and Marion and Holiday Queen. Sorry that I haven't had a chance to look at any of your blogs yet - my reader is currently at over 800 posts to catch up with... argh! I wll definitely try to catch up as soon as possible though!

p.s. Elm Hill is one of the oldest streets in Norwich and was recently featured in Stardust! Very exciting!

Blog awards...

Yeay for blog awards! I love getting them but I love giving them out more! It really is a pleasure to be in contact with some wonderful, creative and exciting people through blogging - it amazes me everyday. Obviously I would love to give all the awards back to the people who gave them to me - but they already have them!

First is the Keepsake Blog award from Red Boots - how cute is this?

I shall also give it to two people:

Amy at I Then Shall Live (Such a wonderful post!)
Evelyn at A Star of Love

I love Red Boots blog by the way and I am so excited that she voluteered to help with my guest post week - I almost don't want to go on holiday so I can read them with everyone else :)

Next is the award from Sunflares Plethora - I am incredibly fond of this sweet girl already (who will also be guest blogging!!) and I haven't been reading her blog that long, so I was hugely excited to get an award from her, yeay!

So I'm going to give this award too:

Adele at Poptart
Alissa at Grace's Birdcage
Chelsea at Life is Beautiful
Alicia at The Red Deer
Nina at Naturally Nina

This final award from Hermia at A Chick Named Hermia and the amazing Diamond in the Rough (Check it out!) I am giving to all of my followers!!

I know its a slight cop out but I seriously can not believe I have over 40 (insane right) I was thinking of doing another giveaway at 50 followers but I never expected to get anywhere near that number in under a month so this is all I have for you -for now. Thank you so much for reading and please keep leaving comments - I love reading them and will try my best to comment back! (which should be easier now we're getting a laptop, woooop!!)
